as for me, I think output produced by SAL 16105 is better than CZ1680..
I do think that SAL16105 produce more vibrant color... but at that time I paired it with Sony a230.. I think its the diff of sensor...
My CZ1680 is paired with Sony a550..

CZ has more visible vignetting which annoys me compare to 16105.. Sharpness? I think not a lot diff even when I zoom it 100%

Now I'm with no gear.. If I want to buy lens, I'll go for 16105 rather than CZ1680.. 1750 is not in list as it too short.. I would rather spend it on prime (30mm and 50mm).. Now still waiting for a7xx while funding for it..

I think what u ve experience is either having a not-slim filter or u're shooting at 16mm @F3.5 ..
Other than that, no possible vignette as far as I'm concern.. haha..
*
I've used a slim filter.. and when I speak about it, I don't use any filter... don't be a fan, be a user please.. but I like its bokeh.. agreed on ieR said.. its almost as owning a prime but not like owns it..

Is it ISO capabilities in each of DSLRs is based on its inner software? and How about Video capabilities? Is it hardware based or software based?

destfull: Video height (720p/1080p) is currently tied to vertical resolution divided by 3 (10 fps * 3 samples = 30 fps). I still haven't gotten round to finding the source for this. ISO performance in JPG may be tied to the firmware, but hardware ISO performance as measured by DxO is determined by pixel surface area and the strength of the color filtration array (hence why the A850/A900 can resolve more different tones in one color compared to high-ISO champions.)
*
So does it means that we can hack a850/a700 firmware and bring the high iso quality of a550 to it?

Is a850 ISO is better than a550? (straight from the camera)..

And is it possible for sony to just update the firmware to enable the video mode? If not related to hardware, I think they can.

firmware is part specific, in this case, the sensor, hence i think it is not possible to do so
or it might be the processor, bionz, which a550 using another enhanced version

New 12.3/14.2 effective megapixel (A500/A550) CMOS sensor and new enhanced BIONZ processor for detail-packed, low-noise images with high sensitivity up to ISO 12800

*
So, the BIONZ processor is the one who limits it all?

I once heard that if we shoot raw and process it via some software, we will get more clean noise... so is it that software or computers processor that makes different?

but why did u compare SSM with SAM? both are different technologies... with SAM being nearly as noisy as screw drive as far as i know from those SAM lenses that i've tested before

another one slowpoke doh.gif

I mean that, it doesn't mean that you only need to use SSM lens.. You can also use SAM... No one wants to buy SSM lens just only for this evil.. If have, only 1%.. shakehead.gif

Let say my gf bought this.. I can share with her 50mm 1.8, 30mm 2.8 for prime and macro..
