guys just wanna share my experience purchasing with Orient & shipito.. a very unpleasant one i may say..

- initially the watch purchase after discount was 301 USD
- as Orient does not accept direct international purchase the only way is to go through shipito as per Orients web site info
- after the 8.50usd deposit for new account, this fee that fee bla bla..
- total cost for a 301 USD watch came up to 128 USD
- total 429 USD

that's like hell RM400 for nothing... shishhh

The impression I had was the Vostok Europe models had better regulated movements than the original Vostok ones (which do not seem to be regulated at all).

Swiss standard rate +-12 secs? They tend to make their stuff sound better than really is aint it. For ETA 2824 standard, if you read their specs properly, it's really +-30 a day at maximum.

The Japanese on the other hand prefer to report the worse case scenarios and their watches perform much much better than on paper.

That said, I don't know much about the Vostok Europe's Vostok 24xx based movements, except on paper. My 'unregulated' 2416b is so far still being run in.

Not all of Casio's sub usd300 watch are made in China. Yes a lot are cased there but the parts come from different Casio factories around Asia.
Almost all the current g-shocks I have seen are made in Thailand. In the past some were even made in Shah Alam!

I wished I can buy an atomic G-shock in Malaysia (they can only be purchased from overseas dealers). But then again, with the nearest radio signal coming in from China, how well will the synch work through all the mountainous lands?

Hi there guys, I have RM 1000 to spend on a watch, eyed a lot of watches to date, in the end decided to get something with a white dial(black dial is second choice) and leather straps. Looking for unique brands with good value. On my mind at the moment are Tissot Visodate, Luminox Field Date, Timex Compass and Victorinox Infantry. Preferable case size 40mm +. Any other watches I should consider ? thanks for the help
