hi bros, what's the difference between these 2 movements fc-310 vs eta 2824-2?

currently considering Frederique Constant FC-310M3P6 and Ball BALL  fireman series RACER NM2088C-SJ-WHBE.

any idea which AD can give higher than 25% discount?
*
FC 310 is base on a ETA 2824-2 with Mod by Frederique constant to show wheel.

Is that the model?

yeah that's the one patryn33 smile.gif
very diff design indeed...
in terms of value for money, which one comes up top (between FC & Ball)?

Any advise where can I get ~30% or more for FC?
value for money.. maybe FC. 2yrs back I got a FC gold for my parents and its at 80% off, but I got it thru grey.
discount are very much control in AD. FC not as popular as Ball should be able to get good discount

there are other independent brands that uses same movement and more value for money

guys just wanna share my experience purchasing with Orient & shipito.. a very unpleasant one i may say..

- initially the watch purchase after discount was 301 USD
- as Orient does not accept direct international purchase the only way is to go through shipito as per Orients web site info
- after the 8.50usd deposit for new account, this fee that fee bla bla..
- total cost for a 301 USD watch came up to 128 USD
- total 429 USD

that's like hell RM400 for nothing... shishhh
*
I understand U are furious but I didn't get the summary.
cost of watch from OrientUSA = USD$301

Shipto fees breakdown
- account creation US$8.50
- Shipping fees US$119.50!!!!!!!!!!!

not worth it cannot cancel order? Didn't someone method a cheaper alternative?

how about this Bonia Teroso?
RM1199 but after 20% discount the price is only around RM9xx.
Saw it at Tip Top Time last week. I was seduced by its first look beauty. (seriously the design look alike the honour watch brand- B&R)
plan to buy at Hong Kong since buying watch there is free-duty. But is this worth to buy?
I ask sale girl for the origin of Bonia watch. She states that the design is performed in Paris while the production is in Japan.
One year international warranty.
*
fashion brand. most likely using a citizen quartz movement.

if U like the B&R style try

uni-directional (anti clockwise) is a safety feature.

Well built, priced around RM1.5k below...
need advise before buying, saw it at the watch shop in SS2...
*
not heard of ROSTOV. A google didn't pull up anything.
U sure well build? with russian I would only go with a few mainstream brands
eg Poljot, Buran, Vostok, Strela, Sturmanskie

anyway at 1500 can get a swiss watch.

that's Vostok-Europe. They aren't regulated well. if U don't care too much about accuracy.
some uses Tritium gas and they glow like the famous Ballwatches.
the ones U are looking at certainly comes with gas tubes.

how much did they quote U?
not sure online prices are better, the 2 links that choen provided are reputable sellers. Seen alot of ppl buy russian prices from them on watch forums.

The impression I had was the Vostok Europe models had better regulated movements than the original Vostok ones (which do not seem to be regulated at all).
*
they are regulated but to what specs.
most usual Vostok Europe are at +15sec every 24hrs.
and its regulated to meet -10 seconds a day and gain no more than 20sec.

kinda True. swiss standard rate is ~+-12secs. Jap +25 to -15sec. Can say Jap specs isn't outstanding
On paper it states so but the fact is in most case they (swiss and Jap DOM) are regulated to ~5 to 10sec, Vostok Europe usually ~15sec.
Depending on individual 5sec faster don't mean anything, every 4 day gain 1 min is fine so long it is consistent.

this russian is a beauty! well regulated but its price is ~3k. Denissov Barracuda

Swiss standard rate +-12 secs? They tend to make their stuff sound better than really is aint it. For ETA 2824 standard, if you read their specs properly, it's really +-30 a day at maximum.

The Japanese on the other hand prefer to report the worse case scenarios and their watches perform much much better than on paper.

That said, I don't know much about the Vostok Europe's Vostok 24xx based movements, except on paper. My 'unregulated' 2416b is so far still being run in.
*
from wiki, and my bad.
each position is regulated to within +/-12sec a day, the max variation from wearing is +/-30sec. ya worst case is super bad, Jap is better!!!
QUOTE
ETA 2824
-Standard grade is adjusted in two positions with an average rate of +/-12 seconds/day, with a maximum daily variation of +/-30 seconds/day;
-Elaborated grade is adjusted in three positions with an average rate of +/-7 seconds/day, with a maximum daily variation of +/-30 seconds/day;

Valjoux 7750
-Elaborated grade is adjusted in three positions with an average rate of +/-5 seconds/day with a maximum daily variation of +/-15 seconds/day

not own a standard grade ETA. my lowest grade is a Elaborated 7750 which is running +5secs a day.
My SW200 is running ~8-10secs a day. in any case they perform better than paper. in any case spec is 1 thing what QC delivers is another.

my JLC on the other hand is as spec on paper ~+15sec.

interestingly Casio makes all < US$300 watches in china.
quartz watches perform so darn well, my 15yr old Tag I can't even notice how bad it is running. my guess maybe similar to what u're getting.

I think those radio control ones are better. anyone own one?

I think this is an interesting piece. mechanical and still has a rotating center dial to synchronize this watch with radio time signals that can be detected in different places.

Not all of Casio's sub usd300 watch are made in China. Yes a lot are cased there but the parts come from different Casio factories around Asia.
Almost all the current g-shocks I have seen are made in Thailand. In the past some were even made in Shah Alam!

I wished I can buy an atomic G-shock in Malaysia (they can only be purchased from overseas dealers). But then again, with the nearest radio signal coming in from China, how well will the synch work through all the mountainous lands?
*
U're right again. I am sorry, was not thinking straight. I meant outside Japan.

don't own a radio watch, no idea how well it work. what is the delay like etc.

Hi there guys, I have RM 1000 to spend on a watch, eyed a lot of watches to date, in the end decided to get something with a white dial(black dial is second choice) and leather straps. Looking for unique brands with good value. On my mind at the moment are Tissot Visodate, Luminox Field Date, Timex Compass and Victorinox Infantry. Preferable case size 40mm +. Any other watches I should consider ? thanks for the help biggrin.gif

just check, do u guys think getting a watch at KLIA wud be cheaper than getting it in town?
*
which Tag and which B&R?
Tag mod ETA movement, in some case mod Seiko movement in few cases inhouse.
B&R just regular ETA movement unless U talking about their Tourbillion, not even sure they make the case inhouse like Anonimo.

m comparing these 2 brands in general as i am not quite familiar with watches.

btw, ETA bla bla bla sounds like greek to me sad.gif
*
how to compare?
Tag spend more $$ on marketing than B&R.
Tag design very different from B&R.
they target very different group of ppl.
both share weak resale value.

its feel like asking Samsonite vs Coach which brand is better.
or nike vs Aldo which is better
