Must be a classic as the brand "Le Coultre " was super ceded by the full JLC brand. What year was this manufactured?
*
according to History the birth of Jaeger-LeCoutre is in 1937.
no accurate way of dating exact yr. its 1960s from serial, it was given as a gift on Xmas back in 1964.
what I learnt back in the good old days. GM mangers would award their employees which have work 25-30yrs with a atmos clock.
today an entry model like that would cost ~US$5k.

QUOTE(ck77 @ Aug 28 2010, 02:40 PM)
Looks huge patryn, how big is that?
*
too lazy to measure. copy from a site:
The clock, with its canted corner and rectangular body stands 9.25 inches high, has a width of 8.25 inches and a depth of 6.5 inches with a diameter across the bezel of 5.375 inches.

I'm interested to buy a Mido Multifort Chronograph Special Edition. I saw one here in Ipoh and selling for RM6200 b4 discount. Is this watch worth the money I'm going to spend. I made some reading and find that the movement in base off ETA 7750 and modified by Mido. I knew a lot of people would buy a tag or oris but I certainly saw this Mido is lot cheaper comparing to chrono from Tag. Any suggetions from learned members here appreciated. I'm looking forward to buy my first mechanical swiss made watch.  notworthy.gif
mido movements are generally Top grade as opposed to Oris. Tag mod those movement so can't really compare.
for me most entry level LE watches is not worth the money on resale.
http://blog.hellorolex.com/2010/04/mido-mu...al-edition.html

for value for money chrono try Guinand watch. but its not 44mm, 42mm iirc.
damasko. also good buy with your kind of money.
for brand maybe Sinn.

shop at local grey and U can get a Porshe Design for US$1590 (retail at US$5900)

never for an oris to be paying LE price if its about resale value. like the design ok can't help.

Well Well.....yeah the Oris is base SW200....
what do u mean by "never for an oris to be paying LE price if its about resale value"
Means Oris never fetch a good price for resale value?

Ohh my, u are trying to poison me with Porsche P'6000 smile.gif how much u got it?

I like the Bose® Companion® 3 Series II hehe awaiting to get these baby smile.gif
Bose? expensive... lucky I can get employee discount on Harman Kardon stuff.

oris resale value very weak, maybe as weaker than Longines/Tag.
I didn't get that Prosche someone on MWF got it and is trying to sell it. but the price is high!

Will CYMA be a good choice??

http://www.cymawatch.com/collections/insid...70.100ST-ST.04B

I think I've seen this somewhere in Singapore for S$1K ++ with 20% Discount

Water Resistance don't have to be too high, 100m will do, and chrono function is optional. will wear during office hour only, with long sleeves. Kind of like a necessity in work smile.gif
*
if U did see this Nineteen Forty COSC under sgd$1.5 b4 the 20% discount thats a good deal as listed for ~SGD$2K b4 discount.

Cyma offer good value and I think u can find them at city chain right?

I would recommend Stowa Antea. finishing is better than many entry level brands. some even compare it to Omega but U got to wait for3mths+

Yes, the CYMA i saw was somewhere in Suntec city where they are having sales.

Christopherward and louis erard really caught my eyes. I will check them out.
Usually you guys purchase watches online or through a retailer? I don't mind online so long that it is authentic.
*
do report whats their prices after discount.

stowa and Christopher ward only can be bought online. some ppl waited for a Stowa LE for like 1yr+ and they are still waiting. As Jorg is a jeweler at heart. he makes his watches like making a piece of jewelery. today I usually get them online.

there is a stowa cult in SG

Since no AD for Stowa in Singapore, any puchase has to be done directly with Stowa via online purchase. While Stowa has online shop, for strange reasons Singaporean/Malaysian customers cannot order from the online shop that is dedicated for non EU customers. Hence, in order to purchase Stowa watches without having to pay the 19% of German VAT, here are few tips:
Browse Stowa online store www.stowa.com to get info on their watches
Open up a personal fedex account. It is not so difficult. Contact Fedex Singapore at 1(800) 743-2626, tell them your intention to open personal account. Fedex will fax you the form. Fill it in, fax the form and the copy of your NRIC and Credit Card back to Fedex. It will take 2-3 days for the processing at Fedex. Fedex will call you and inform you your Fedex account number. It's free of charge.
If you know which model you would like to purchase, please email Stowa at hafner@stowa.de . Viveca Hafner is Stowa's customer service lady, who is very attentive and helpful
Inform Mrs. Hafner the watch model, and tell her you are from Singapore/Malaysia and would like to purchase their watches without 19% German VAT. Please provide her your Fedex account number
Mrs. Hafner will confirm your purchase and send you the Paypal invoice
Pay Stowa via Paypal
Your watch will be shipped using Fedex
Upon receiving your watch, in 2-3 days time you will receive invoice from Fedex to pay 7% Singapore GST + SGD 10 administration fee.
You can pay fedex using credit card or cheque
That's all, enjoy your fine timepieces from Stowa smile.gif

or try
http://www.autran-viala.de/DE/Cartouche.htm#

since U are in SG, U should check out JW watch, at times Louis Erard goes for sale as much as 60% off!
http://www.jwwatch.com/showpro.asp?cat=142

eg this was sold at 70% off for just SGD$485!

I just got this CYMA(02-0430-002) watch from city chain after 30% discount.
Can't find the ninteen forty in the shop anymore, probably out of stock.
[attachmentid=1755751]

Looks pretty simple and nice to me, not sporty and complicated.
Pardon my "newbie-ness" However I couldn't find more information about the watch online, except for some chinese websites :

http://mywatch.com.tw/candywatch/item.asp?item_id=419458

So I don't really know what type of automatic movement is it, it just says swiss made.
*
how much did pay for it? if U don't mind sharing?
most likely its an ETA 2824-2.

thinking of letting go my Hamilton Khaki Chrono and get a Guinand.
saw WUS have someone selling a similar watch for US$600. I am thinking of letting it go at US$500.

hi guys, is tissot movement considered low end movement?
recently consider to buy tissot but 1 of my friends told me tissot movement is low end movement...
i am not sure about this, hope you guys can give me opinions...
*
seem like a easy qns, but I am not able to offer a short ans. what is the definition of low end? movement not found in Rolex/JLC/Zenith?

quartz Tissot - not seen movement grades on these quartz movement. if there is no movement grades on quartz, U may find a Omega or tag running on the same quartz Tissot. so it it low end movement?

mechanical/auto Tissot - watches on ETA 7750 are always on elabore grade or better and U find in many more expensive watches on the same grade.
those on 2824 uses Standard grade. is that low end?

remember pay peanuts get peanuts. Tissot with so much marketing, U do know who is paying for that right?

I'm still indecisive between PVD C40 or Leather C40...
a bit skeptical about PVD coating quality...coz my seiko 5 was ion plated and i have to be very wary every time i wear time
Hopefully the have some discount coupons soon...the Nearly New deal is just too limited and chances are low i would be able to get one..
*
I have the PVD C600, I have knock it around and the PVD still there.
check CW forum, at times ppl are selling it too.

hmm.....thanks for your opinion... notworthy.gif
now saving money to buy Tissot PRS 516 retrograde...
another question here, are those watch manufacturers under Swatch Group make their own movement or the movement supplied by Swatch Group?
*
Omega design their movement and got ETA to make them.
hmm... Breguet, Blancpain, Glashütte Original, Jaquet Droz make their own movement. they maybe using ETA too, that I am not sure.
the rest such as Union, Longines, Tissot, Certina, Mido and Hamilton all use ETA movement without mod.
