Yep that's the one I was looking at. Same price as watchco too.

So what's the reason these online shops can offer a much better price? Just being cautious as this is really my first proper watch purchase.

www.stowa.com for good value. as what patryn said earlier, there are many brands out there and page 1 is a list of them. it all boils down to what you are looking for. Wether your looking for a big brand, a good finished watch, or a watch that has resale value.

dont bother panerai. unless your going for their lineup with their own inhouse movements. i do own a panerai and all i can say that there is nothing really special about it. Fit and finish is so-so. And if your looking for brand. Panerai's aint that popular among people our age as well. (i'm in college too). With 4 k, you can get a pontos day date automatic for that price in a local AD. i personally like ML. i find their fit & finish is good and even better than the likes of tag and some of the omegas.

thanks yijzen. i too prefer ML.
btw local AD? means in malaysia? wheres the shop?

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Nov 15 2010, 12:16 AM)
NOS go to varies AD and check them out, no special place other than collectorstime.com (they do not sell Local now, just export even they are base in KL)
still a student, brands like Sinn, Damasko invest in making a good solid case that is harder than regular steel.

it is possible just not big brands such as Panerai, Omega etc.
many brands listed on page one are small markers to keep cost low U can only get the online direct.

plenty of good reviews on fit and finished on these brands.
even Epos, few brands blue their screws. ML pontos are not as nice as their masterpiece collection.

U can get a quality Damasko, direct thru them or

Sinn 256, U can find it in Hour Glass (someone order it online from sinnwatches.com)

or Guinand (high quality movement is Rhodium plated, cost of Rhodium is higher than Gold), can even customize watch, they used to make Sinn watches, perhaps even Bell and Ross. Owner today is founder of Sinn.

i recommend you to go to the ML boutique in starhil for the purchase, the sales manager there is super friendly. unlike those snobbish slaesman who look down on younger customers.

if you dont mind a simple design. chck out the new pontos day date automatic.
http://www.google.com.my/imglanding?q=pont...=1t:429,r:0,s:0

it comes in many colours. if i'm not wrong it cost rm 4.3k after the 30% discount.

Point taken haha. But I guess I still need to find a dealer to try the watch first before I buy it online.
I seem to remember seeing it somewhere in 1U before, anyone else know which shops carry Mondaine?

standard for ML pontos range is around 30%. the masterpiece can sometimes be higher due to promotion. last year theres some "how old are you" event which made it possible to get a 50% discount on the masterpiece. ofcourse not the ones with thier inhouse movements.

I'm pondering the same thing as some of them have brand new watches at even better prices than the online shops.
I guess if they have a 98+% rating it's less dubious lol. biggrin.gif

I bought a US$75 G-shock and a US$600 seiko from ebay..
don't have to worry much as long as you get it from a seller with high rating and has done thousand of sales...
if anything goes wrong, lodge a dispute with paypal/ebay...

ML do not have many inhouse movement. They are like Chronoswiss using vintage movement and making big improvements on it

not own a stowa b4.
only read reviews online. Jorg was a jeweler so his work should be good.
anyway those that own a stowa many got hooked and collected them ever since.
that is why a basic Stowa Antea wait is more than 6mths now and those LE is easily more than 2yrs.

True...like for seiko, gray market watches doesn't come with original boxes, papers, tags..some doesn't even come with boxes... sweat.gif ...
not sure about others...so need to really sure what to look for to spot the difference between fake and authentic ones...
More efforts are put to produce replica swiss watches....
