Woah! Hi everyone! I'm an old timer 80's kid from Singapore who grew up completely FS seow. I am the first true 'ang-moh/mat salleh' FS addict. Took me 2 days to read this 80 plus pages thread. Growing up all over S.E.A, I have been a hardcore FS hunter since primary 3 back in the day after I was introduced these guys by a malay classmate of mine who had a blood thirsty chop. My addiction grew until its climax right before o-levels, when the trend began to wain with gaming consoles being the new thing for kids. In later years young kids were taken by such things as Digimon, Pokemon, all of which are based on the culture of FS. Luckily, I taught my younger brothers how to be expert FS hunters. I often cycle more than 20km and trek into any jungle if I sense a spot. Looking back, I was more ballsy than now - just sitting in my office wearing shirt and tie. I stopped catching and playing these shortly before NS, once in a while getting back in an afternoon hunt for a King Kong Pao. After NS, I went on to breed and fight fighting fish, also known as plakat. Now almost reaching my 30s, I just recently began hunting again 5 days ago. It's great to see this forum thread, as back in the day we did not have any communication on spots, techniques and were all mad hunters in our own ways. Glad to know that there are people like me. Lotsa great training taboo still make me laugh when I recall them (eg: chilli padi, putting the kang in your elbow and squeeze him so he bites and sucks your blood). Yesterday, I went back to some of my old hunting grounds, some secret spots still untouched, others urbanised beyond recognition. I live in the East now, but no doubt areas such as, Thomson, Bishan, Bukit Timah, Peirce, LCK and Sembawang are still the best haunts due to the presence of large forestation area with water sources still there. After hunting for so long, you can literally feel them and sense their presence. Also they have a type of smell if you are sharp enough to sense them. I am glad that some areas still have healthy stock. Great also to see that some bros here have T.Sub variations. Though some might argue against it, I truly believe that T.Sub wild variations can be caught in SG. I myself have landed a few with iridescence covering almost 70% of the legs. Very rare but highly possible. Big respect to all the videos, pictures and support from the bros on this thread keeping an awesome tradition alive. Okay, I'm off to hunt some in a nearby plot during my lunch break in a tie. Haha. Hope to catch up with some of you guys for a little sparring. Cheers!!

Hi Urahinuk

Thanks for the warm welcome! I will not be free this weekend as I have some promised engagements but I will definitely put some photos on here and hopefully some videos. Perhaps the next meet up I will join. I went out during lunch and caught 3 kang near my work place and now my shoes are all muddy. Still modest size but I will go home and test with my others to see how well they fair. Perhaps we should start a facebook group?

Excellent, thanks for the link! Perhaps we need a SG group too soon. Anyways I had an hour break today, so I headed down to some low lying shrubs that in my young days were infested by FS. Just 2 mins on foot from work. It was quite wet this morning from the rain and things were just starting to dry up. From the looks of it, the area didn't seem very promising. But I knew, since the facade of the area didn't really change in the last few years that, just like more than 10 years ago, the area would be a hotspot. Even though wet! The magic thing about this area is due to the old colonial housing (black and white houses which are preserved) and lack of redevelopment there was little or not change in the foliage. Another reason why the the bukit timah area has population has survived. I an hour I managed to catch 5 kangs from small to medium, amongst tons of bu's. Let 3 go but kept 2 which were newly moulted go stun pows : ) Kept another immature male as he was the rare copper-bronze hue iridescence. Looking forward to exploring some further areas everyday. Hopefully landing a large fighter class to train up in the next few hunts.

Hi Rudy

Thanks for saying hi biggrin.gif Thanks for posting the nice videos. Poor guy Spar, used as a sparring partner for everyone, I guess that what his name suggests too. I too a jog today during lunch break armed with a small pair of scissors. Near botanic gardens I found a nice untouched row of spider lily and within 30 seconds I found a nice large guy begging to be caught. Saw another within the next minute, casually jumping around but was small so I let him go on. Will test out this nice long armed chap tonight with my catch from yesterday. Pretty decent sized. I located a few more spots which I will check out tomorrow. Cheers! notworthy.gif

I was actually really impressed with Enam's performance. If weather looks any better I hope to be hunting more soon.

Nice fights Viper biggrin.gif Perdana is impressive. I like your white 'arena' you created.

On another note, I got itchy today so I went for a lunchtime hunt at a place I used to catch a lot of large FS. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. Love it cause its always give me Kang no smaller than M size. I hate it cause it is always muddy and most of the time the FS are not 'home' but instead jumping about looking for trouble. Not to mention Yam leaves are my least favoured plant as they are always delicate and don't hold the nest form well when you have to cut.

Didn't have much time but I was rewarded today with 6 young good size Kang in an hour for my efforts that caked my shoes with mud. The largest one of them I named 'Trigga'. From the 5 other i caught, none so far can stand toe to toe with Trigga. Wanted to take a pic but ended up having my iphone on video mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt2XQ4al7D4 (Not easy at all trying to photo 2 newly caught together...) rclxub.gif
He will be a good match for my larger unbeaten 'Greenbean' at home. Almost similar arm length so I can see a good match-up finally.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfoINCv4DAs (Sorry for the unclear iPhone videos)

Was lucky enough to see a 'live' match between to wild kangs on these leaves. Unfortunately missed catching both of them due to their post-fight jittery-ness.

Attached Image

Also caught 2 very large 8mm Bu at the location which I will try to breed with my larger males before I release. thumbup.gif

Among the hunt was an interesting find of an old Kang with 'zero' iridescence with only 5 legs. Image what hell he has been through. rclxub.gif

Cheers to all FS bros. Happy hunting! notworthy.gif

A big hello to all my FS kakis! I hope you have all been able to hunt despite the terrible weather lately. Love all the videos and pictures lately! I've been trying to get out hunting at least an hour a day if weather permits and been lucky to catch myself lots of M size cops and a few larger ones too. Greenbean is still by largest and his colour is getting a bit darker in captivity not to mention his training various styles. Thankfully getting a bit more aggressive lately. My 3 top at the moment are Greenbean, Echo1 and Jackal. Jackal is the chopster of the 3, Echo1 is the smart guy and GB is just the longer arms of the trio. Their styles are all very different so sparring between them is good training. Baraka was my top chop until Jackal ate him yesterday. Sigh. I was using him to train GB's normal fighting style to be more aggresive, which has been working.

Some recent vids from my phone:

Greenbean vs Baraka sparring - http://youtu.be/uosuW2JguXw

Greenbean vs Baraka sparring (2) - http://youtu.be/H7xcIY5-vYs (GB first loss but avenged the next day)

Leon vs Jackal - http://youtu.be/N2hmwcKtDEE (sorry for the bad language)

Echo1 vs Jackal - http://youtu.be/OtQGKutQA9o

Greenbean vs Echo1 - http://youtu.be/LPZqUJBwITI (title fight)

Cheers to all FS hobbyists! Peace, love and big ones for all! shocking.gif

Yes, Zet certainly XL. Maybe can catch another one from the same area.
The fs population in that area should have the XL genes.....

Evan's hunting grounds also quite good. Produced Tamaro which is L-size.

Evan, heard you are unwell these few days. Hope you get well soon!

Good Luck and Best Wishes to Everyone!!!!!

I'm not sure it i can challenge anyone now, im just holding Gorgon. Had to let 50 cent go. Rather let him breed than stay old and lonely at my house.
Roto from my point of view is undefeatable currently with this genetic size and power. tongue.gif

Greetings to bro leNaturale,
I remembered you had a good chopster called Greenbean.
Are you still go for FS hunts once in a while?

Hello Mojo, yes yes I still hunt FS very often when I have the time. It's a hobby you cannot quit, even if you try.
Met up with some kakis near my place with some great FS from Ricky, Rudy, Jong and Krauser, video support none other than Ura. Glad to have other fs seow people still in SG.
I think we are meeting today to see their HK fs, cant wait. rclxms.gif

Hi All

Met up today to see some of the new HK Fs with the kakis. We only had one HK T.Bha today which was in the possession of Ura named Sakura 2. Large size i must say! Same size as Gorgon but thicker arms. Unfortunately it was ousted by Rudy's Bo Ji.
Some characteristics of the HK strain are its thickness. We are still awaiting some of the sub-adults in the possession of bros Ricky & Rudy.
This is only the beginning. I can forsee some very interesting matchups coming this way. The SG T.Bha are proving to be strong and both Ricky & Rudy fielded a strong showing. Managed to take some photos of the HK Sakura II and Gorgon before releasing him to the wild - since he is large but not a willed fighter.

Some clips of Sakura II. Please wait for the other videos from Ura. Some good fights.
