Your 'Arena of Death' pro sia. During my time, the arena was a round sweet metal container(about 8cm in diameter) which was used after eating all the sweets. One of the participants would hold it and put it's FS. The other participant or a empire would lead the FS onto the container. All other spectators would crowd around the container, trying to get a view of the fight.

I remember this round metal container. Mine is usually a matchbox. I find fights on table is the fairest.

Ya.. those days metal/tin container were consider the premium/luxury casing..
It can provide better protection, wont crumpled easily like match box or easily cracked like those cassette tape housing.

The top part use nails to poke few holes and hammer to ketuk body till even..so wont accidentally cut FS when walking upside down inside the case.
Bottom part of the case ... use as big fighting platform.

Trebor sweet round case (My personal fav fs casing.. many colour choice also.. orange, green, purple )


Miss Elize Clarke candy round case (Big casing.. can keep several FS inside 2gether)


Shoe wax polish tin round / rectangular metal case (My school FS champion guy use...this type of case close very tight.. very hard to open. Even if ppl steal the case wont be able to open it up easily to get his King FS )

I also kept Fses in cigarette boxes. Good ventilation but spiders often look so "stoned". Possibly because of the smell. :-)

Hi Everyone

Whoa.....Platform of Death. Looks cool and good for video as the background colour is light coloured. In SG, most of us now prefer to fight on big leaves for good video and we did experiment with different platforms too.

It is interesting to see the different containers and the gum drop round container was similarly a luxury item in my primary school days. Those who could afford to buy those sweet containers could similarly afford to buy the better fighting spiders from others or other school champion. The school champion in I think 1978 was a boy known as Ah Huat who housed his first king in a Strepsil cough sweet metal box. When I started Fs again about 2 years ago, I realised that I could now afford these metal boxes and bought a few of them, struggle to finish eating cough drops though I had no cough and only to realise that currently, a plastic box with netting is the norm. I suppose when as a child, we had to hide our FS under the bed or in a desk and smuggle them in our school bag...so we needed a tougher container to tahan knocks.

Yes, those are sweet memories and we are still living these Fs dreams by meeting up on Thursday night at Bro Seng's place. Bro Seng was the Chief Judge and the competitors were Bros BTL, Ricky and me.

We all agreed to leave our 1st kings for the finale and Bro BTL had his Twilight, Bro Ricky, Jupiter and for myself is Aesthetic Doctor. Oh yes, in primary school, I do not remember naming our FS.

The fight starts with Skipper against Dingo.

I was surprised that Dingo could win as Skipper is one of my older and more reliable FS. Perhaps it is time to release Skipper too.

BTL's Black Pearl (Top) V Randy's Hearts (Bottom) 291112

This loss was another surprise to me as Hearts debut fight was against a Chopster too. Since Bro BTL forgot to inform us that Black Pearl was a Chopster or ought reasonably to have known and omitted to announce the possibility that Black Pearl was a Chopster....Black Pearl was disqualified. Yes, we have strict Fs rules in SG.

Next is Goliath X against Guardian.

Alamak, Goliath X was also disqualified for the same reason above.

BTL's Midnight (Left) V Randy's Star Sabre (Right) 291112

As you can see Bro BTL has a few good sized Fs and some were moulted from sub-adults. Midnight was rested and withdrawn from the fights.

Ricky's Small (Top) V Randy's Megazord (Bottom) 2911112

Wow, Small is indeed a strong Fs out-pushing a bigger sized Megazord.

Bro BTL then announced that he would be taking out a chopster called Pitbull and Bro Ricky decided to use Small.

Pit Bull won and was withdrawn.

I then took out Tatanka....can he weed out Corruption.

Yes, Corruption could be stamped and with the slate wiped clean, it is now time for our 1st kings to enter the arena.

Fegiaro looks injured. Hopefully, Twilight is fine and can challenge Jupiter next time. Jupiter has been four/five time champion.

FS when newly caught, very jumpy and active... but after caught and handle by human few times, it become less agile n adapt to the situation.
With too much exposure to light /bright open area n interaction with human ... its believe fs will become less alert or active.

Actually other main reason using metal case beside solid protection, is when its closed, there's zero or very limited light (from air holes)....this dark environment inside the metal case actually a secret training ground to boost FS capabilities especially its danger/fighting sense up to max and have proper good rest
(FS dont wander/walk around much if its dark - to avoid eaten by its predators). FS shining colour will also turn darker and become more aggressive.

Last time my preparation before any strong FS fights during school day, i dun open my trebor round metal case for 3-4 days.. just spray/sprinke some water only and put the case in dark quiet area..Less disturbance is recommended to make the FS feel not threaten and also to simulate back FS own safe place/nest..

When FS comes out from the dark after sometime, it will be more excited, alert and active/eager to hunt/dominate other fs or mate with female FS

Jupiter is indeed a super strong FS and try as i did, just cannot defeat him.

Have wondered what Team Ricky would be without Jupiter. Would it be like superman without his red underwear? Like Thor without his hammer?

The only way to find out would be to suddenly challenge Bro Ricky without advance notice while he is hunting on a lazy Sunday afternoon (2nd December 2012), hoping he leaves his strongest FS at home. I issued a last minute challenge and he just could not back down.....predictably Jupiter was left at his home.

The fight took place at my home ground too.....high altitude in Simei (top of multi story carpark....like scene from a gangster movie)

This is one weekend that I did not hunt and my team remained unchanged.

My first Fs was Va Va Voom and his was Shao Lin.

Once again, scenes from movies like Rambo and Commando come to my mind....can Aesthetic Doctor beat all Fs in his way and seal ultimate victory??

Only time will tell whether Titanic can fill my 1st king position. Titanic was caught at Valtor spot early this morning as I was releasing my spars including Skipper. Titanic was peeping through the leaves.....
