Sp is not really famous for seafood & I hardly see any steamboat restaurants there...Hawker ctr sure a lot esp closer to the toll Plaza SP South. & locals will recommned you old town Jam Besar..lotsa nice hawker food there..]

Otherwise..Nasi Kandar Pelita is my regular stop & makan place there..just not far from the SP South toll Plaza. Well Nasi kandar & Thai food is very popular in SP...Any nasi Kandar restaurant for sure tatsed good in the North..haha..+ the Thai food...mostly by local Thais...so must be good too although I tatsted once many years ago..dunno where dy..

Due to the proximity to Penang, SP sooner or currently already part of Greater penang which covering Penang, Prai, Butterworth Bkt Mertajam & to a lesser extand ..Sg Petani..really abooming town..probably overtaking Alor Setar as the largest ton in Kedah not far now..

I been there last week, a new restaurant called "Zhong Ma Shi Seafood Reastaurant", seafood restaurant. Locate at Jalan Legenda 6, Legenda Height(Nearby old Tesco). Price cheap and their seafood is as nice as K.L.

Must try their deep fried sotong, sweet & sour crab, Steam River Fish & Butter Mantis Prawn. smile.gif

I left sp for almost 3 years...not sure if everything is still the same.i was studying in SP for 3.5 years...
our favourite will be

Mee Alauddin - Taman Ria (selling outside a corner unit old coffee shop)
Banana leaves rice - Near Hotel Seri Malaysia ( opposite a nursery at a steep turning)
Beef kuey teow - in the old taxi and bus station.
Motomiya (japanese food) - at Lagenda Heights
Le Boss - Lagenda Heights
50 cents Nasi Lemak- Outside the taxi station. Small stalls.open only at night
"wak sek kai" - lotsa hawker stalls
nasi lemak - nasi kandar Makbul (start serving at 4.30am)
At Makbul...they also have something called "kottu pratta" something like roti canai all torn and mixed and fried with eggs. NICE

Taman Ria Foodcourt has got very cheap western food. But dun expect 5 star rating . acceptable quality at very cheap price. The "chu chao" that opens at night taste good.

There is this ikan bakar restaurant by the monsoon drain. Halal. (Operate by Malays). Taste quite good, but a little pricey. This will be somewhere near the south SP

The price of food in north SP is cheaper than South SP. Maybe the South is more happening.

Awww... I miss those days...
