recently i applied for my first cc under cimb. the staff asked me what was my preference in terms of cash rebate (for petrol) or reward points. she suggested me to get both (combine 2 into 1 account). i assumed that was cimb classic & cimb petronas mastercard. however, when i got the card, it's cimb islamic card (which doesn't have petronas logo on it). it comes with yearly facility charges (not sure what is it).

i called the card centre trice. first time the staff told me yearly facility charges will be imposed to my first statement even though i don't use the card at all (which is a hell lots - RM24,000 for petronas mastercard, printed on the brochure they sent to me). the 2nd time i called to confirm, another staff told me that is finance charges (interest charges). slightly different for islamic bank i guess. that means the first staff gave me the wrong info?? the third time i called up, i requested the staff to check for me which type of card that i'm holding now, after putting me on hold 10 min, he finally told me it was CIMB PETRONAS mastercard. he asked me whether got a petronas logo on it. i said no. he told me he aldy passed my details to their dept in charge and will get back to me within a week time.

anyway, just sharing my first experience in applying cc. gotta be very careful in each terms they're using (i'm a science grad so many financial terms seem hoohaa to me) sad.gif

gotta go to their branch tomorrow to really check it out. else i'll just cancel the card (still have to pay for gov tax no?)
