Just came back from watching episodes 1 to 8 back to back. The title and art direction are the primary reasons I gave it a gander, and after a proper viewing it's now officially on my watch list.

Notably this is the only ongoing animu series that I'm enticed to continue watching. It's been a very, very long time since that has ever happened to me.

Fuken lol-ed at the massive fanboi butthurt, raging over whether or not their waifu is not as pure as they want her to be.

Which brings me to another question; what does guest18 make of this?

You haven't watch Cow and Chicken, have you?

Anyway, about that music video. The song had in fact shown up three times in the series before, but after watching Ep 10c again and again, I've began to be reminded of that shitty Katy Perry & Timbaland song I kept hearing on the radio. Sheesh.

Hey, it is Gainax. They'll either run out of money or ideas as the end of the season approaches.

Either way, I'm ready for any more surprises.

Must be saving up for the next four episodes. 11A is awesome though; and I'm assuming they're deliberately trying to top 10A with 11B.

And yes, turns out there are officially 28 episodes, not 26. Season finale's due this Christmas season.

Well, 12b was interesting. Very interesting. Funny how even episode 12's intro is cut down to reflect the fact.

Looking forward to the season finale.

Knee jerk reaction: HOLY F*** THAT EPISODE WAS AWESUM!!!1111 WHAT WILL THE NEXT EPISODE HAVE IN STORE!?

I'm considering placing my order for the Special Edition of Volume 1 of PSG as well as the soundtrack before Christmas Eve (Oh shit, that's, like, only 4 days away, so I would really like to resolve this ASAP). The soundtrack should be easier to obtain, but there are a few factors to research on obtaining the actual series itself direct from the Japanese market:

* Seems like it can be purchased from Amazon.jp, but I'm unsure if this is covered for oversea shipments, since they only permit selected movies and music. Also having trouble making out some of the moonspeak; will appreciate if someone could properly translate the list of contents for this Special Edition so that I can determine if this purchase is worth it (an art book would be friggin' sweet). And yeah, I've tried Google Translate and Babelfish. No help. Also, are there other channels to obtain them?

* Then there's the price after currency exchange (¥100.00 = M$3.73). We could be spending an upward of M$375 a pop (including shipping cost, each), and you'll need to 6/7 volumes to complete the set for this season (4 parts/2 episodes a volume on average). Keep in mind they're currently available at discounted prices (~30% off), but I don't know how long they'll stay that way.

* BD or DVD? BDs have no region lockout between us and Japan compared to DVDs, if there is any lockout to begin with. Also, I'm having a hard time believing BDs would survive obsolence and be given backward-support by future formats.

* Also, customs on our side. How do they deal with shipments like this?

Anything else that I need to be aware of before I go ahead with this?

1. Amazon JP will usually using DHL (sometimes Fedex) and you will be charged additional 2000 yen for shipping. That would be 8838 yen if you order that.
2. Discount is eligible. Discount price is according to when you placed your order. The payment price will be according to the date when you used your card/money transfer.
3. So far from my experience getting BDs from Japan, they can be played on my player very well.
4. 8838 yen is about RM 330++. As long as it's under RM 500, no tax will be charged upon your product and they less likely to open the box (unless they see something weird when they scan).

Thanks. These should clear up most of my concerns. Now I just need to verify exactly what the SE will offer, then I'm good to go:

GOD. MY. OH.

What took you guys so long? I've vented my rabid reaction elsewhere for a full day until I have nothing left to say. Don't tell me only about four of us actually watched it; I supposed its content is objectionable to a large segment of folks here.

Also, /a/'s response is funny.

Obviously they sacrificed Stocking to the evil side.

Its already evident that

1) Stocking loves a ghost
2) Don't mind betraying heaven.

So I am not surprised. Hah. But still FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

I can wait. Best to give them time to flesh out the episodes if they're really going all out for S2. Either way, I'm just going to pre-order the BD set until the last of S1 is released in May.

Anyway, everything went better than expected. Well, except that blockage in my left ear since last night. Damn ear wax.

The soundtrack I ordered is shipping earlier than the BD. Estimated arrival: This 30th.

Joy.

Not a shred of info yet on what it will exactly contain.

And it's supposed to be packaged in the last volume for season 1. That's due out in May.

have you listen to the OST?
*
Oh yeah. It's good. But not to the extent that justifies the initial fan reaction.

Like most music albums, there are songs which I really love to repeat over and over again, and then there are those which I'll either play out of curiosity or pass entirely. Overall though, nearly half of the tracks are likable, which is actually impressive; probably has something to do with me already enjoying proper electro music. No denying "Fallen Angel" is the best new animu song I've heard for a long time though.

Oh, and not all songs from the series are included. Most notably absent is Garterbelt's theme from 11A and 13B.

I read in a fansub group web said at the end they say there gonna be a 2nd season

Gah, I wouldn't like to put too much thought into it between now and any official announcement; it'll mess with my head. I'll keep myself occupied doing other things for the time being, like brushing up my skills in arts.

Added on January 5, 2011, 2:22 amHuh. If this post is any indication, it turns out the video quality of the BD version of volume 1 doesn't offer an awful lot of improvement over the original broadcast version. Naturally, this and the pricing difference mean I should opt for the DVD version instead until a proper BD boxset with improve animation quality is released, but the DVDs are only compatible to Region 2-only disk players, a primary reason I forewent the DVDs in the first place. And yes, in case you're wondering, bleeping censors are still present.

Coincidentally my Amazon order for the BD was inexplicably canceled before shipping on Sunday, so I'm once again free to choose. The bad news is I'll probably have to wait another 1-2 months before the DVDs can be shipped. The BD version has also sold out, and I wonder how many people are unaware of what they're really getting out of this.

Decisions, decisions.

are you SURE on DVD? DVD is worse than HD TV broadcast, its resolution is in 480p native. id rather spend the extra bit if im already spending a load on the DVD just to get that native 1080 (or 720 upscales wwww) over shitty 480p

tldr: goin DVD? prepare yourself for the downgrade especially when you watch your anime on 1080 native LCD/LED monitors/TVs

Well then, BD is it. I can't be arsed to put my DVD drive/player at risk by tampering with its regional lockout anyway.

Btw, you guises are aware of P&S Nendoroid in the works, don't you? Seems they're showcasing these this 12th.
