1. Beside sharing which company you did your internship at, briefly explain what roles did you responsible at.
2. If necessary, get your lecturers who know you or formal supervisors to write you referee letters.
3. TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF - Tell the reasons why do you think this post suit you - What's your aim in life, what kind of profession you are aiming for. - Delete the informal opening paragraph "Hi, I'm XXX, degree from XXX University". Make everything straight to the point. Employers want to see your enthusiasm and "hunger" in pursuing your career.

How come no one starts a thread on 'How to negotiate for higher salary?' or 'Keys to bargain for higher salary'??

QUOTE(meme00 @ Jun 9 2011, 12:59 PM) hi all Wanted to ask what if I don't have any references to furnish? I mean the last time I listed my former managers (of 2 different companies) as references was 2 years ago, and I don't keep in contact with them. And I feel it's inadequate to get in touch with them out of the blue just to ask them to be my references. So what should I do? Could I ask the interviewers to reference check with my previous HR instead? Please advise, thanks ^^ For me, I didn't put any referees' in the first job interview. If I am to give, it would be because the potential new employer asks for it.

QUOTE(faceless @ Apr 13 2011, 09:46 AM) cshong, If you so much like to follow the stuff you quote go ahead. Personally, I am not impress if a person whom I do not know can put my name on the cover letter. I dont even look at the cover letter. I go straight to the resume. What is so difficult about getting the HR Manager's name. Call up and ask the receptionist. If you use proper PR skills, they will tell you. So are you advocating getting the HR's name or not? Seems like your statements are contracdicting.
