You can try this "bold" approach as well - call up the company and ask if they have any internship opportunities and then direct your resume to the person you spoke to..

all the best ...

Most likely you will confuse the already blur blur receptionist even more. "Apa itu intun program?" biggrin.gif

Cintai BM. You write to a government department in English doh.gif

Your cover letter is good. Short and sweet.

Minor comment. Your last paragraph should only be one line. "I attached herewith my resume for your consideration". Your second line is a redundant repetition.

I would advise you use BM when writing to JKR.

Hong already done a better job than those online dictionary/translator.

It no one can help you then just use english. It is better than sending in "funny" malay.

I never trust those online translation. All the Malay words in my previous post are translated by myself. I never trust those online translation. Because those online translation always got funny words. However, my Malays is not so good because I had forgotten some words already since I graduate from secondary school.

In secondary school, we always use "kerja rumah" for "homework". "Kerja rumah" is not "assignment".

BTW, I have another question for you people. When I write my resume, in education background or education history section, do I need to include SPM, PMR, UPSR? Or, should I just write the name of school?

And, should I send 2 different language versions together, 1 english and 1 malay?

cschong, just some comments I thought of:

1. I don't think there's any problem with writing it in English. You might want to use Public Works' Department instead of Jabatan Kerja Raya though, no big deal.

2. I also don't see the point of sending in two different languages, my first thought was like, eh you think government cannot read english ah?

3. I attached hereby ---> "Attached herewith..."

4. You could possibly expand on how you helped other students and what quantifiable results came out of it.

5. At the beginning , instead of writing to inform them of your interest, perhaps you can just say you are interested / to express your interest. Also expand more on what you want. It just seems a bit "ok I have now informed you I am interested for industrial training. good bye" How long is your training? Why do you want to train at JKR? How can you contribute?

And well, take all this with a pinch of salt! smile.gif

Good luck!

It is not necessary to include PMR and UPSR in your resume. If they call you for interview bring copies and original along in case they ask for it.

By writing in English you already implied that your malay sucks. Why give them a copy to show how bad it is? As I said earlier, write in English if you cant get people to help you with the malay.

i am from sarawak, and one of my friends told me that sending the cover letter and resume directly and personally to the human resources department of the company will show greater sincerity and higher possibility being call... do you guys agree with the idea?

if so, is the situation equivalent to posting the documents through pos malaysia?

are you talking about advertised vacancies or unadvertised vacancies?

For advertised vacancies - MOST applications are directed to the Human Resources Department.

For unadvertised vacancies - yes, you can do so but chances are, your application will be KIV-ed, but no harm trying smile.gif Before you do that, make sure you check out the company's background and the departments that are operating in it. This will help you to know the company's operations and management and the potential job types that are available in those companies. Good luck

I am not entirely sure what they do with duplicated job applications ... but u can try this as well. Call up their HR department to see if they receive your application or not, this approach is more sincere IMO .. smile.gif
