Does anyone worry about condominium or apartment collapse due to mild earthquake in Malaysia, as Malaysia is no longer an earthquake free country, even government has a trail evacuation testing on putrajaya, not more even one building collapse will heavily affected all condo/apartment price.

Basically it is a natural disaster which is an uncontrollable factor after all. Yes, market do respond to any negative issues regarding property hence affecting its current value.
remember highlands tower incident? after that aftermath, ppl are avoiding from apartment, condos or flat which were build on higher ground. As for earthquake, there is no cases which severely affecting local property in malaysia right now This post has been edited by m4xspeed: May 4 2010, 10:09 PM |

AFAIK, malaysia is not in the earthquake prone zone. basically it's safe unless the high rise build quality is bad.

Yes, market do respond to any negative issues regarding property hence affecting its current value. After Highland tower incident buyer shy away from condo or apartment purchase temperary oni. Most condo project in klang valley still sold out except those in "less hot area". Its all depend on whether the buyer willing to take the risk or not. remember highlands tower incident? after that aftermath, ppl are avoiding from apartment, condos or flat which were build on higher ground. Why not worry this instead: if the quake happened, it cause the substandard highways you'r using to collapse. This further impair your effort in driving from one still-standing condo to another to collect rent, at the very least. Of course some injury are expected. Can anyone shed some light here? Please let me know if my worry is too much... (I have many investment are condos and apartments) The safest place to live is the one we built ourself out of paranoia. Looks ugly but definitely will be practical. Oh sorry you're talking about losses of investments. |

we have already hit by mild earthquake magnitude from 2-3 for the last 10 years, we even hit 4.6 magnitude on 80's.
Different building has different level of susceptible to tremors, we do not have a solid guideline for construction on how to deals with tremors, I'm not worry about heavy strike at least in 50 years since we are not in earthquake prone zone... yet, but I'm worry about the into which level of tremors a building can sustain. One developer is not doing their construction well, building collapse because of the minor tremors, this will causes lossing life! PPl are started worrying of the building built in the country because non of it are earthquake resistent. in to how further the buidling can sustain with the tremors? nobody knows only developer will know. I'm stay in condos together with 3 kids, 23rd floors, around 4 years back, and i have 4 investment in hand all are condos/apartment. Because of this concern in mind, just thought of getting a landed and move out. I really hope I'm too much worry here See below article of earthquake in the country. http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/index2.php?...o_pdf=1&id=9000 |

You are correct my friend. One new requirement/law will come out soon and it will definitely affect all the old and current condos and apartment....Can anyone shed some light here? Please let me know if my worry is too much... (I have many investment are condos and apartments) Cannot share too much.... but if you want to sell it... better sell it soon.... |
