e46 id stay far far away from that model dont ever get the 318 or 320 4 cyclinder motor.
but if really would like to own one can try your luck for the 330,325 or 328 model.
theres a reason why theres a lot of e46 convert to toyota 2jz engine.

ill spare have at least 10k just to be safe. the electronics of e46 were not known to last .
and like any modern car it`ll do a dominoes effect to other parts. make sure to change when need to.

lack of boot space , passenger cant fold like euro version ,
the small 2.0 engine is not as smooth as its older 2.5 or 3.0 NA even though the new engine pulls around 250hp
and say goodbye to ride comfort , as ride is harsh and noisy interior (*though some unit is quiet enough perhaps this is QC issues)
the previous e90 325i is a better car for me.
