Anyone here driven the 1M before? Planning to get one really really soon but based on the youtube video it seems like a great car.
Just wondering if anyone has driven it IRL and has any critique regarding it.

QUOTE(mugenz @ Oct 24 2012, 07:20 PM) 1 series is super rare here, don't say M1, I doubt they even have a test unit for authorized dealers unless take frm grey imports.... I thought the 1 series was BMW's best seller?Just wanted a sporty 2 door so I'd have an excuse not to pick anyone up because they'd hate riding in it. |

QUOTE(chuakz @ Oct 24 2012, 07:59 PM) BMW 1M is a M car....you can expect not as good ride quality but plenty of joy from driving it...if you talking about the normal 1 series...the coupe is not popular in Malaysia, best sellet doesn't mean best seller in Malaysia, different countries have different demands. Proof? The new BMW 1 series hatchback hasn't even been launched here yet. People like sedans here. I have a sedan already, so i guess getting 2 is a tad moot. QUOTE(Mavik @ Oct 24 2012, 10:59 PM) Buying a 2nd hand or a recon will drive my insurance and finance rates up. As for the E92, it's 70k AUD more expensive. Not mention I already have a dual clutch car at home, a stick manual would suit me better. |

QUOTE(slyder @ Nov 1 2012, 01:59 PM) Bro, 1M is priced at 1/2 mil here in malaysia. That said, if the car can put a hugh grin and smile and stamp of approval from a BMW hater like jeremy clarkson, you have a sure deal then. Went to Springwood BMW on Tuesday. They said it is now not possible to buy one in Queensland. Essentially they told me "GG if you want a 1M, you want to buy a gayer 320 instead?"Only thing you have to look out for the security. the original anti theft system aint that good Not really so happy I went back to my plan of getting a bike. They had a GS650S with ABS going for 8000 dollars ride away at Motorrad. But is it true what they say, dem Germans can't design a good looking bike to save their damned lives. |

My F22 arrives coming Monday. I'll post a review if I don't crash it on the first day, touch wood. Cost me 3.5 grand extra to have the LSD fitted but being a regular LSD driver I figure it makes a huge difference.

QUOTE(Mavik @ Jul 21 2014, 05:11 PM) That's expensive. The last LSD upgrade I had, a Quaife was only 1200. Was thinking of canceling it and getting the new M4. But the reality is that I ordered the 235i when on a 2/2 roster. Now I'm on a 3/1 roster which makes justifying an M4 so that I can drive it for 6 days in a month a lot harder. |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Jul 22 2014, 06:05 PM) What currency is that in? RM1200 is extremely cheap for a Quaife LSD. The one I wanted for my car costs 880pounds which doesn't include in shipping costs yet. 1200 AUD.Anyways got my ass off playing computer games and drove the car to exercise and gym today, so I got a few happy snaps. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() She drives fine so far. |

QUOTE(gend @ Aug 20 2014, 05:29 PM) I just got back from site after 3 weeks and went for a drive before washing it down.Gave it a solid drive to get the oil heated up and flowing. I am still waiting for the carbon pieces to arrive from my dealer (which is incidentally owned by Sime Darby Berhad QUOTE(dasauto @ Aug 31 2014, 03:03 AM) It's a nice car, the only flaw being the very weird feeling steering. It takes getting used to, even if I have driven EPS cars before. I hopped in my Evo X right after I drove the M235 and found the traditional power steering to be much more natural. QUOTE(taitianhin @ Sep 2 2014, 03:41 PM) Depends on what the dealers brings in. The nearly all BMW coupes here have manual as an NCO (No Cost Option). But of course it is going the way of the dinosaur, so I grabbed one when I could. |

Had a long drive out today, the car is good, but only thing that is shitty is the crappy BMW "Active Sound" which I have no idea on how to disable without a BMW diagnostic tool.
Also praying the geniuses at Akrapovic come up with a titanium exhaust for this puppy. Couple that with a CF driveshaft and an increase to 400 HP ATW and it should drive even more awesome than it does now. |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Sep 9 2014, 07:20 PM) 400ps on the wheel shouldn't be that tough to achieve. I have seen several 335i and 1M managing around 380ps on wheel average at our local dyno shop. Still trying to find a near mint second hand 1M in Valencia Orange to add to my garage but will see how this year goes. Although after driving the both the M3 and M4 at BMW's trackdays for a good 40 laps each, I feel the M4 might be a better shoe-in if I can cobble together 25 percent of the purchase price upfront next year. But then again the stupidity of owning 3 fast cars and a Ducati only use them for 1 week at a time is something to consider. I love buying stuff as much as the next guy, but there's a point you reach where it's pretty much just a wank fest |

QUOTE(Xnet @ Jul 5 2015, 11:27 AM) Depends mostly on the model and engine you wish to buy, and also the transmission. Earlier year N54s will suffer from HPFP problems like the rest of their kind but it isn't a hard remedy.Sime Darby lol. |

QUOTE(ktek @ Jan 13 2018, 03:47 PM) Brake fade doesn't result in stiffness especially with standard street pads. Are you it isn't the way the car was meant to be? I used to drive a Volkswagen GTI, the damned brakes were stiff and other on or off with high initial bite, hard to modulate. On my M4 it's a very gradual soft push with room for modulation with low initial bite. On my Evo X it was high initial bite with strong firmness but room for modulation. OBD scanners won't pick up FSM/FSC special codes, only ISTA/INPA with ESYS will drag weird diagnostic data out. |
