Bro, 1M is priced at 1/2 mil here in malaysia. That said, if the car can put a hugh grin and smile and stamp of approval from a BMW hater like jeremy clarkson, you have a sure deal then.
Only thing you have to look out for the security. the original anti theft system aint that good

Went to Springwood BMW on Tuesday. They said it is now not possible to buy one in Queensland. Essentially they told me "GG if you want a 1M, you want to buy a gayer 320 instead?"

Not really so happy I went back to my plan of getting a bike. They had a GS650S with ABS going for 8000 dollars ride away at Motorrad. But is it true what they say, dem Germans can't design a good looking bike to save their damned lives.  tongue.gif

It depends, some people really love them BMW bikes hahaha. But personally, I can't ride one so I don't know much about them tongue.gif

Every continental parts replacement sure is super expensive.

With new cars having warranty even more expensive as need use back genuine parts to keep the warranty.

If recon and used u can still opt for aftermarket parts but certain like drive train and engine have no choice.

I just got my new f30 about a month ago. Wanna change suspension but worried will void warranty but original m performance is so damn expensive.
*
How much were you quoted for the M performance suspension? I know that each piece is around the RM800-RM900 range. A lot cheaper than aftermarket suspension such as KW V2 and KW V3.

Hey bro, no official quotation as Msia dont have it yet.

I seen from forums its around Euro1,200 include installation.

Its adaptive suspension.

Now i m having another headache, my front driver tires got a bulge aka pregnant. After done only 1k km and own for a month. Didnt really hit anything just normal drive. My old Polo and Honda city being used for years also dont have such problem.

But takkan the product cant even take one hit on potholes?
Ah those suspension, for Euro 1,200 it is quite cheap because a similar aftermarket like the KW V3 would be around RM11k.

Ouch, bulge, its because of the RFT tyres. That's the reason because the sidewalls are stiffer and the moment a hard impact, it tends to bulge out. A lot of the BMW drivers swap out to non-RFT tyres for a smoother and comfortable ride. They carry a can of tyre sealant in the trunk or you can be as kiasu as me, carry a spare tyre and a can of sealant.

i am still planning do my new kicks for the car didnt expect so fast i have to replace a tire.
Its not cheap, RM1600 per piece. Some might see me as kiasu beggar drives a beemer but wanna kecoh about changing a tire. But i will put it as what happen to quality? if it is so easily bulge out then this tire is really not suitable for KL/Malaysia. Potholes are all over the place. I dont think i m prefect driver but sometimes i might hit one or two small ones.. but if major ones i dont think i did.

in the end also the question of quality of tires nowadays... really total rip off.

Kesian la, its brand new summore..
Yeah thats why a lot of BMW owners swap over to cheaper tyres. Especially for F30, you don't need to get really expensive tyres and at the same time your setup is not staggered. Hence the tyre costs are cheaper smile.gif

GT Radial are one of the brands currently used, feels a lot more comfy and also good grip during rempit runs and 300 threadwear

Should have ask u to ask your fren the director of quill to help hahahahahaha.
*
Yeah but tyre honestly also hard to claim, because frankly our roads here in Malaysia is riddled with potholes. Have to always manouvre around. Somemore I am running on 19", it is really shocking!

the E46 M3 SMG is consider a manual box or autobox?
how realiable is this gearbox?
*
Its actually a sorta like a sequential manual where it has a clutch but no clutch pedals. Quite prone to breakdowns. Just do a google search and you can find number of cases. My friend had his replaced as well (under warranty at the time) but it took a long time to get the parts in from Germany.

Hi guys..im thinking of changing my jap ride to current 320i..current ride on 170hp/230torque..320i will be 184hp/270torque..does the figure gives any significant driving experience..havent test drive the 3 yet..
*
You should definitely bring it for a test drive, seriously, that is the only way you can convince yourself of the power difference. Make sure you choose a branch where the test drive route allow you for a nice long stretch to test power.

Guys my 5ers absorbers are due, any brand recommendation or take stock ones? Comfy priority coz just got myself a baby biggrin.gif
*
If comfort is your priority, go for stock suspension (not even the M-Sport ones) and make sure you get it from a BMW stockist (not the dealer). Its cheaper that way smile.gif

Service the worn absorbers? I never try before, how long will it last? Whats the pros and cons?
*
You can't service original BMW shock absorbers according to the ZF. They recommend replacing them. Usually for coilovers you can service them, replace the gas/oil. But for the stock BMW ones, best to swap them.

X3 vs Q5. Any opinion? I was told that BMW have a lot of issues in their electronic board (dont know what it is) and Q5 have petrol leak problems. Any opinion is highly appreciated.
*
For the price, get a recon Q5 which is a better buy and you get more stuff loaded compared to an X3. A friend got a Q5 for around 290k recently.

Recon? Hmmm.... ada masalah punya tak...

When looking at recon
1) Bring it for a check at your mechanic
2) Make sure the dealer you get from also offer a 1 year warranty. A lot of dealers have that nowadays

If I am not mistaken there is a BMW stockist at SS2, same row as Computer War.

Otherwise places like Obermaier, Motorsport Division, Eurotuner has BMW parts.

1 series is finally coming into Malaysia in 2 months time! biggrin.gif
*
Saw a lot of the 1 series when I was in Johor (mostly SG plates). Didn't like the new design that much. Maybe it needs to grow on me. Really feel quite chunky because it looks like the X1 design especially the front. Doesn't have the sleek feeling such as the F30.

Personally I'd opt for the 3-Series M Sport running on diesel. Sexayyyyyyyy.  wub.gif

If possible, go for the 328i M Sport instead. You won't regret it! brows.gif brows.gif

M sport or diesel? THere is the diesel M-sport and there is also a 328i m-sport. If you want fun, go for the 328i M-sport.

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Oct 12 2013, 06:19 PM)
guys.

how is bmw 318i maintenance compare to MB C180?
*
Honestly, in terms of maintenance, if you are buying both the cars new (I assume you mean the F30 316i), the BMW comes with BSRI which gives you free maintenance of up to 60,000km. That means whenever it is time for service all you need is to bring your car in and collect it back for free. No payment. Within the 60,000km, on average the usual F30 owner might get around 3 services. So technically the BMW wins over the MB because of the BSRI package.

Now after the BSRI package, maintenance is relatively similar because at the end of the day, you only mention maintenance and changing the engine oil, fluids, fuel filter is relatively cheap outside for both marques. Both marques have plenty of stockists so maintenance wise, if you do it outside of the service center, it is quite similar.

When it comes to repairs, then the topic is relatively subjective.

I have a few queries regarding the 320i:

1) Is there a particular reason why BMW is only offering 2 years warranty?
2) Is there a way to choose a particular tyre? I was told it comes in batches and if ure unlucky you can even get Sime tyres.
3) What is the best interest rate in KL for 7 and 9 yrs loan?
3) Is there any branch or salesperson thats offering discounts for the 320i?
*
Just saw your thread, hope the responses are still relevant for you.

1) All BMW cars only have 2 years warranty. No idea why it is only kept at 2 years. I guess they do offset it with the so called BSRI.
2) No way unless you specifically go to all of the dealers and ask which RFT tyres they provide with the new car
3) The interest rate would be quite competitive especially with BMW Credit. I am not too sure if they offer a 9 year loan though.
4) Heard that the 320i has a long waiting list, not much discounts offered. Probably better at the end of the year.
