Recond shud be around 3-4% depends on bank.. Used car will be higher, depends on the aged..the older the car,the high interest would be
320D got lots of torque but at high speed, no 4pot can even close 6 pot engine bro..furthermore diesel model got bau diesel like commercial vehicle.i myself prefer normal 320i,even its stil a 4pot engine but on normal petrol are less maintanance and stil got high value if you want to sell the car later.
Bmw 320i are petrol powered...while 320D are diesel.. smile.gif

oh izzit?? not advisable to get diesel huh? I tested a x5D yesterday and was tempted to trade in my e60..... torque was great... but as you said, high speed run abit disappointing..... car runs out of breath at about 180km/h....

Bro I've heard from a friend that getting a BMW is not wise, because when there's some problem with the "motherboard", even small problem, the whole car can't start... need major repair and cost a lot of money. He says that he rather opt for Mercedes because Mercedes does not have this kinda problem. Is this true?

I can understand why you'd get an inline-6 over a 320d but I don't understand why anyone would even consider a 320i over a 320d if driveability is your objective. The 4-pot in the 320i is painfully underpowered, the 320d is far more responsive in day to day use. Both are breathless at high speed but you get to 180km/h way faster on the 320d. Only comfort might a factor, the 320i comes in non M-Sport edition while the 320d is M-Sport only which can be hard on your ass.

I test drove all btw, including the 325i back to back, was most impressed with the 320d overall for its driveability.

For starters, most modern cars, BMWs and Merc included, come with a host of electronics that control a heap of things.
Now, these "motherboards" are electronic boards in modular cases, and are often referred to as control units. This is so that if one unit fails, it can be swapped out for a new one without having to change the working ones. Of course there's a central system linking all these together, so if that fails, then yes it costs a lot, but you'll find such things on every modern car.

The answer to your above question is No, it is not true (although YMMV). Mercs, just like BMWs, can suffer from expensive electronic problems.
As the owner of a couple of BMWs for the past few years, yes I've had to change out some control units, one relating to communications and the other one to gearbox. Yes, it was expensive, but the car worked even with those failures.

Unlike the Merc E-class and SL I had before that. The E suffered from a whole host of mechanical coolant failures (both water and oil) that rendered it unusable for a few days each time, and died on me three times on the road due to those failures. The SL blew its ECU one fine day when I had to be somewhere else, that was quite expensive and inconvenient. Not as much as the gearbox swap it needed at 80k. Or the fact that after a couple of years, the roof no longer worked (5k for that control box - no thanks).

Pretty much why I swore off Mercs. BMWs can be problematic, true, but the reliability of my cars and the better driving experience makes up for it. So everyone has their own opinions, I'd say getting a BMW is a better option, because I've lived through the mess that was DiamlerChrysler. Also, BMWs look better and less of a contractor car tongue.gif

There's a website form that you can fill up, I did that weeks ago but didn't hear anything. Google up BMW Innovatino Days to get the form and phone number. Or you might just call up the branch.

I still haven't get my car to be fixed T_T

I regret buying this car. Very expensive cost me 1k. Problems after problem and hard to be fixed in this area. Not to mention the fuel consumption is extravagant. Probably something broke and it started to drink. Here's the problem.

Fuel and temperature meter broke, and probably some indicator lights
