not easy. that's all i can say...

n if one stops n starts again later.. its gonna be 2x harder for him/her.

u can see the synthoms of ppl tryin' to stop smoking n having a hard time. they tend to end up with loads of cold sweat...especially above their upper lips. they tend to be very edgy n eat more..

My dad's a chimney for 30 years. He still is. 2 packs a day AT LEAST.

But my uncles managed to quit. Just a stick now and then but nonetheless, have no prob not having them.

My friend, 68 year old uncle, he smoked for 40+ years and decided to quit when his first grandkid popped out. He said he had no prob quitting, and that it's all down to determination, will power and what he was doing it for.

It's not easy, I know a senior who tried quitting but gone back to his smoking... he even tried to go cold turkey. All I can say is that if you want to quit, it's all about self control and determination.

My dad used to be a heavy smoker but he cut down his smoking while my mom was pregnant with me and finally cut it during my childhood as it's unhealthy for the whole family.

Give your bf tons of support and encouragement, all the best to him. smile.gif

i dont know this thread is asking for male/female opinion.
but i still wana give my words here.
i aint a smoker, but i smoked before

in the end, try asking yourself what do you get by smoking?
or
just what makes you wana start to smoke every time?

my dad used to smoke during his early days but he quited before i was born. his reason to stop smoking is because he value his health more than smoking.

on the other hand, my sister has been smoking for many years already and has tried to stop many times but failed. the only time she could successfully stop for a year was when she was trying to conceive.

what my dad says is like what the rest have mentioned earlier, you have to have the determination and the want to really stop. not gradually stop but stop straight away.

As a smoker myself i would say it is not impossible to quit but its hard, plus if most of his friends are smoking too..like myself, its like 99% of my male friend smoke..when lepak with them its hard to avoid smoking as i tempted to see them,haha..but most of people i met managed to quit smoking is bcoz most of them fall sick or sudden ill..but nowadays i only smoke abot less than 5 sticks per day..only after meal or i feel bored

btw, misscreamypie, there's a electric cigarette that doesn't have all those chemical and helps the user to quit smoking... No nicotine. better than nicotine patches but I dunno much bout it. Saw it in 1 Utama's InQBox.I just gave the thing a passing glance cos it's hopeless to get my dad to quit smoking... he doesn't have any conviction to do it. Though, there are moments when he can't smoke, he chew gums... So I always get him gums.

Yes, smoke is a type of drug that cannot be control even if u have strong determination and will to fight against it

Once a person start smoking it is super duper mighty hyper mega ultimately TOUGH to stop it
U can see when someone suffer due to stopping of taking the drugs, they will suffer alot as if they are dying but, they will not die of coz, so it will be like a person got stabbed on the body for many many times but he just cannot die

've been smoking for more than 6 years... and now quitting together with my boy friend.

I would say it's possible to quit smoking. it all depends on determination and love.

I give my boy "consolation prizes" (on bed) if he din smoke for one week. It always works wub.gif

I've been smoking for 8 years, 1 pack a day...and my resolution this year is to quit smoking...i don't really have any reason to quit but I do it because I like to challenge myself...its 6 months 23 days now but unfortunately I have smoked 2 sticks during this time (because of some incident)...

In my opinion, yes it is damn hard to quit, especially when all ur frens smoke...the only way to stop is to find a reason that will motivate you...if you try to force ur partner to smoke, u might make things worse...instead of stopping him, try giving him a good enough reason to quit...but be prepared for the tobacco withdrawal symptons...could be nasty...

I think it is depend on smoker's determination to quit it. I never smoke and I do not like my bf smoke. So I often tell him do not smoke or do not smoke so frequently. Then he begin to quit smoking for me and now he is seldom smoking.
