Meh, I still can't get a map to work. Sad. The download would just stop without any error message.

I think the key thing to note here is options.
With removal of chat rooms and regional lock, there is absolutely NO option and zero freedom (oops, shouuld I say, extra fees charged) for those people that uses them. I have no idea why some people delight on options removed from others, when they can stray away from the option in the first place, that's the cause of some of the confusion here. And there are so many flaws on the article from Gosugames, I practically LOL'ed. Seriously, try harder guys. |

QUOTE(evofantasy @ May 31 2010, 06:17 PM) removal of such features doesn't spell doomsday as the haters/QQ bandwagons are doing now... The game is in beta. There is a chance for change, that's why fans feel they have to shape the game the way the want it. That's one of the reason we have betas. I do agree that some people are overreacting due to dissapointment. Added on May 31, 2010, 6:18 pmps: wut are the flaws? possible to point it our for me so i might understand better? thanks and the article.... 1. South Korea. I'm so suprised how Gosugamers bought this up in the first place. One sentence - I would like to see Korea e-sports to have suceeded without lan. Mutalisk micro wouldn't have have existed. If small scale practice was so good in the 1st place, why no LAN? 2. To buy multple copies of SC2 is still cheaper than playing football, ice hockey, or even baseball. How much does it cost to buy cleats, sticks, shoes, or even skates? I'm so suprised how Golf and tennis didn't make into the list since they are indeed even pricier sports. But in Malaysia, I can pay RM30 to play badminton in my frontyard. Or throw in RM5 per person to get a branded basketball or soccer. But I guess no one gives a sh*t to Malaysians. Also, nobody cares about getting a decent PC, with decent CPU and GC also high DPI mouses anymore? And what happened to promoting e-sports? Start by making it expensive?! BTW, Koreans can make it big because of sponsors, not because of regional lock in SC1. No money = no e-sports, simple. 3. Not only that, but it could lead to server migrations where servers could lose popularity. With regional lock, no server migrations yes, same server popularity no. Since people can pickup their facorite region anyway. What's to stop a East guy buying a West copy as a first copy? Server popularity will be so much more clear cut few month after the game launches. 4. As for the issues with lag, despite the increase in technology and broadband connections, it was not that long ago that the BroodWar communities in Europe and America decided to restrict the participation of Chinese players in their tournaments. Again, no options. Now ALL tournaments will have to be region locked. Yes, even EU to US. Also, JOM STREAMYX!!! 5. Spam. By that logic, no emails, IMs should exist. Nor should my mother cook, because there's a chance that my house will catch on fire. Algorithims were made to filter spam mails, exe files were blocked from IMs. Welcome to the 21 century. It's fine that Activision wants money, but most can't stand them talking BS pretending that everyone is less incompetent. No hard feelings to anyone, as all of us have the same intention to see SC2 succeed. E-sports fighting! |

QUOTE(evofantasy @ May 31 2010, 07:17 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « finally some constructive post instead of flaming activision lol... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Yes, let's have a proper discussion. 1. NO. Korea could not have been a sucess without LAN. SC1 proscene started 10 years ago. LAN was the foundation back then. I'm not arguing that Internet cannot replace LAN forever, that's naive. But in some places like M'sia today, LAN > Internet. 10ms is still lower than LAN latency. Besides, ping is only 1 of the problems, what about disconnection, service interruptions and the trademark slow "INTERNATIONAL" connections? And I'm still awed at how CCs have not protested at the idea of account locking. I highly doubt this game will sell to CCs. It's a little naive to say no LAN directly = less piracy, no? What about private servers, isn't that another form of piracy? 3. Isn't region free better for server cap and better to solve the peak hour issue since everyone is on the same time zone? Again I stress that region lock does not solve the server population issue. It just changes the cost: in WOW, migrate = relvl character to lvl 999 la! In SC2, = Pay extra RM250! 4. No choice is left for me. I pay what ever I need to, and you still let me in anyway. Just please just don't say this is for for a better experience sake and bla. And who decides who gets access to these servers? Wouldn't that make non top level tournaments harder to organize? Wouldn't there be a bias towards sponsors and event organizers? 5. Chat channels. And whatever happened to the "You're typing too fast." message? If I make a random channel called "Lowyatians" and 20k people come in and spam, Blizzard should be happy because they have officially sold the game. And how is mass spamming more difficult to stop than gaming piracy, region to region latency and server migration that made Activision completely lose hope on it? And why has nobody start on the privacy issue and Facebook "integration" yet? |

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jun 4 2010, 10:33 AM) I LOL'ed at someone who expected buffs to Terran instead of nerfs. I'm sorry to say that Zerg players that are happy with this patch are clueless (Say to say, one of my fav SC1 caster as well). Can't be blamed, communities (especially Zerg) have been QQ'ing about Terran mech being undefeatable, though I'm not sure if this is the right way to go about it. 60 to 50 has NO AFFECT at the ammount of hits for tanks to kill all zerg units except for Ultralisks, which most Zergs say is complete "bullshit" unit anyway. To me the biggest change would be on TvT matchup, Tank wars are now 4 hits, and marauders cannot be killed in 2 hits anymore. QQers will just QQ. |

QUOTE(evofantasy @ Jun 4 2010, 02:20 PM) Yeah, basically he agreed with what I've said.QUOTE DISCLAIMER: Patch 15 f***ed siegetanks sideways so this proposal isnt quite as valid anymore but take it with a grain of salt as from before the change. He's talking about the AI that needs to be changed not the damage. And 10 dmg has no direct effect. QUOTE(talexeh @ Jun 4 2010, 05:52 PM) Anyway, I've to admit that TLO is a very creative player & he might have really found the solution to counter Terran mech as Zerg but until we see it, I've to stick with the fact that Terran full mech is a very viable solution to shutting down Zerg expansions & subsequently, contain them into a corner. If that's true, that's even embarassing. For TLO to discover the mech counter for Zerg players as random (or more Terran lately), and Artosis to learn from TLO how to play his own race? I suggest a 1v1 switch race grudge match! Fight, fight, fight, fight....... This post has been edited by HaVoC: Jun 4 2010, 06:04 PM |

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jun 4 2010, 06:09 PM) Well, you don't see a top pro-gamer discovering the MutaStack in SC1, yes? Shark was never at the top of the hill but credit goes to him for inventing this game-breaking technique. Well yeah, but Shark plays zerg? A more appropriate anaology would be saying that iloveoov discovered mutalisk micro, and showed it to JulyZerg. |
