The LAN version will be supervised by Blizz employees, which means that any major tournaments that wanna go through LAN will have to involve Blizz.
*
same goes for big WoW tourneys

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

seriously though, if this is kept under 10 heroes each side or under 20 heroes in total, and its done in absolute seriousness with balance in mind, then yeah ill get into it. else, burn in hell.

I'm actually interested to see how they crack it. Even campaign mode requires online validation before starting a game.

But I guess the crackers enjoy the challenge.
*
pirates sure can, lol.

well, not something that'd concern me though

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jun 29 2010, 03:59 PM)
From an audience's perspective, this is good as we'll get to see new things constantly like how player A gonna counter player B's strategy which was supposed to counter player A's earlier strategy.

However, from a player's perspective, this is a very irritating & frustrating aspect of having your BOs exposed in 1 or 2 games after you've spent weeks of sleepless night, squeezing your brain out for a new game-breaking BO. Imagine having 4 weeks of your hard work being copied by some opponents! Audience & fans might go ooh-ahhh for 1 or 2 games & that's it. 4 weeks of hardwork for 2 games' worth of cheering plus your BO being copied by your opponents... that's like rubbing salt into your wound!
*
and thats the nature of esports. dont like getting copied? be ahead of your opponent them. those who only copies are always a step behind to those who are making new BOs/strats.

then again, theres also micromanaging.

This sentence must be a joke. That's the 2 main criteria or characteristics that distinct great players from good players. They are also skills that take a life time to master.

If BO matters more than macro and micro then I guess the game will become obsolete very soon.
*
i agree and disagree at the same time on that bolded line. they may be at the same level, per say, however their play style may not be the same. 2 200-300 APM player may be considered on the same level, however one's playstyle may be constant kiting with ranged unit, while the other may be good at flanking with melees, its still 2 different thing/player/style/micro

Nobody is treating u like an idiot lo ...

Playing with AI and actual human beings (people) are different laa.
*
^
this.

AI dont do fancy micros. humans do. hell, id even go as far as saying zergling are so f***ing micro dependant, id much rather ditch them and fast roach just to avoid the micro hassle. they simply die a lot easier compared to sc1 and day9 did analysed/ranted about it.

That is why I disagree on what he said. He claims that zerglings will auto surround with no problem.

But this is very hard when you wanna harass workers effectively around mineral patch. Good micro is required rather than atk move.
*
and hence my posts earlier. forget mineral patch, im not doing too well against normal confrontations with those frail zerglings lol. its only when i have mutas backing them i kick ass XD

very very mobile force with mutalings heh heh
and to think zerglings are just mineral fodders

lol, come to think of it. i have NEVER EVER built baneling nest since day 1 of beta. until today. NEVER, not a single time. LOL

just not my type of unit. though since baneling busts are the current BO(o)TM i guess i should give it a shot wwww
