This would be some good news, or maybe not ... just dun flame me tongue.gif
Officials announce that beta will resume July 1, 2010. Blizzard also announce there will not be any major changes in phase 2.
*
Damn I was hoping for a revamp for phase 2. Whats the reason for pausing beta then. vmad.gif mad.gif

Well, there are hardware that need to be upgraded & all sorts of minor tinkering + testing here & there. You have to take into account that the servers need to withstand major influx of players as compared to the puny number of beta testers it used to handle prior to the release.
*
I was hoping that they will at least have chat rooms and WoW bnet connection available.

I'm actually interested to see how they crack it. Even campaign mode requires online validation before starting a game.

But I guess the crackers enjoy the challenge.
*
I would be more interested in seeing them making LAN or even private server. If that is possible for them as for Beta they still have yet to succeed.

*
I am skipping that for SC2.

Added on June 28, 2010, 4:23 pmSince today is less than a month before SC2 releases, I think I would like to put up whos gonna buy which region of Starcraft 2 list on the 1st page.

I think I would get the US version after the pricing, SMM and IAH game's reputation.

Thanks

QUOTE(chulk @ Jun 28 2010, 04:34 PM)
mind to share where can we get the US ver?

PA selling at 65 usd, not cheap at all.
*
Whats PA?

QUOTE(evofantasy @ Jun 28 2010, 04:58 PM)
if the hackers did that for MW2, maybe...
but again, its piracy and i'm against it...
good games deserves being bought original...
*
True but I guess we are discussing on the crackers abilities rather than buying original or taking the easy way out.

pls pm me.

QUOTE(kianweic @ Jun 28 2010, 07:41 PM)
Crackers / Hackers will always find a way, first it makes them look good, second, doing so is also good money.

However, I have been buying original games for a long time from digital distribution services (such as Steam, GOG, Impulse) and retail (either from shops or Gamer's Garage Sales.

And all Blizzard games I owned are original. Ranging from Starcraft 1, Warcraft 3 and expansions as well as Diablo 2 and its expansion respectively.

As such, Starcraft 2 won't be any different.
*
There are still games that they cant crack eg Assasin's Creed 2

Dude, you don't wanna know the hours I pull at work.

Work hard, buy original and play hard and fast.
*
Which region are you getting?

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Jun 28 2010, 10:06 PM)
Probably by changing Base.SC2Data. Works for the beta.

Doesnt really work well for me as in custom games, you'll get tonnes of "Parem Error".
*
What do you change in Base.SC2Data ?

Artosis talking about Bnet 2.0

SangHo to SC2!

Well players like TLO won't be worried about being copied.

Watching replay will speed up players strategy evolution and it is fun to be countered so improvements can be made.
*
That Id agree just like any strategic game be it board game or actual war, people get their strategies copied over and over again, and people improve on those strategies. flex.gif

Thats why for games like Baduk in korea they have a degree for it.

BTW is beta comming back this Friday?

well eventhough both players are using the same BO, ur BO changes along the way as the game progress from wut ur opponent is doing etc...
not to mention it put more emphasize on micro...
*
Thats the thing strategy changes whats wrong with having your opponents coping your strategies?

From an audience's perspective, this is good as we'll get to see new things constantly like how player A gonna counter player B's strategy which was supposed to counter player A's earlier strategy.

However, from a player's perspective, this is a very irritating & frustrating aspect of having your BOs exposed in 1 or 2 games after you've spent weeks of sleepless night, squeezing your brain out for a new game-breaking BO. Imagine having 4 weeks of your hard work being copied by some opponents! Audience & fans might go ooh-ahhh for 1 or 2 games & that's it. 4 weeks of hardwork for 2 games' worth of cheering plus your BO being copied by your opponents... that's like rubbing salt into your wound!
*
But somethings you cant just copy like good micro and a good deceiver tricking your oponent and so on.

In pro-gaming, BOs can be a very big deciding factor. Look at Bisu when he came back from Thailand hibernation. Fuah... BW fans were proclaiming the return of P god (something like that) but it only lasts a few games once his so-called heavily-innovated BO was dissected to nothing.

In pro-gaming world, you can be pretty sure that almost everyone have more or less the same level of micro & macro as you so you gotta rely on something else to get yourself ahead. Micro-macro can be trained up & will remain with you all the time but a particular BO can only be used until someone is able to come up with a perfect counter.
*
What if some 1 is able to micro his speedlings so well that their death rate is only 10% or something god like? Wouldn't that attract huge attention?

APM can't reflect the effectiveness of micro. I still believe micro/macro matters more than BO
*
Agreed...

QUOTE(MYNAMEISJASON @ Jun 29 2010, 08:30 PM)
I still think BO's are more important in SC2, since the individual unit ai has been improved so much where you just attack move and the melee units almost auto surround for you while range unit chase and fire.  blink.gif
*
Read the Bold words...

QUOTE(Moonflown @ Jun 29 2010, 08:21 PM)
Haha sry. I'm saying that since BO can be easily copied, pro level gamers should just keep on refining their micro/macro which are the least obvious in replay. And it's the small and noticeable stuff that polishes a BO more effectively than others.

A well micro-ed worker can screw a build order. It happened in day9 vs tasteless =D
*
That one is funny, though its unintentional but it shows how a well microed worker can screw up someone's BO.

After 1 and a half pages of BO I would love to try out her BO. wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif drool.gif drool.gif

Play moderately.

It's like you have to play 9am to 5pm daily.
*
Well depends what you wanna achieve if you wanna be a cyber athelete like nony and Idra in Korea then you have to play 16 hrs a day atleast.

QUOTE(diehard1979 @ Jun 30 2010, 11:13 AM)
So now how many going to buy US version and how many go SEA version.
Recently a lot of game keep doing this kind of thing to us.
Heroes of Newerth, LOL, and now this starcraft 2.
I think most of us will like to join US server but mostly we will kick by their local player cos they can see our ping right?
Really sad that we had to paid for US dollar and still blocked from playing in US server.
Now I dunno want to buy what region at all.
They keep spiting the community. HON also do like that. Really make us fell sui siao that stay in SEA region. Have spend so much money(due to US currency higher so much than us) while still quarantine by them.
*
Refer to the 1st page, our list are there.
SC2 is comming out with SEA version so you might get good ping for SEA depending on your line since you are from Malaysia I presume.

this.

AI dont do fancy micros. humans do. hell, id even go as far as saying zergling are so f***ing micro dependant, id much rather ditch them and fast roach just to avoid the micro hassle. they simply die a lot easier compared to sc1 and day9 did analysed/ranted about it.
*
The AI I played with from the replay crack I got from sina do quite abit of micro but still gets macroed out.
I think if anyone is able speedlings to near perfection he would be the best SC2 player alive, since its almost imposible to micro them.

if u attack and move, even wit speedling or any other unit the AI would have some units behind the front units running around...
that's quite a huge dps lost when u have quite a number of zerg/speedlings not to mention ur front units would be 2-3 shotted by the zealots...
the pathing is in fact the same with speed or not just that speedling move faster...

attack move is particularly weak against terran with their siege tanks...
TLO's zergling/ speedling control is just orgasmic especially when he's up against helions...
better than sen's imho...
btw: wut is tossgal's race in sc2? she was terran in sc1...
*
I think she is still sticking to SC1 atm.

QUOTE(diehard1979 @ Jun 30 2010, 02:37 PM)
I had refer to first page, so few ppl only, I think most people still not decide yet to go which region.
I like US region but most of time they sure kick us out when see our ping 200++.
In final we still have to create our own game and play with ppl that ping 200++.
Now Aussie complain that blizzard gonna lock them to SEA region.
Really no one like to play with SEA ppl.
No matter what, SEA region will have less player than US region. Plus most of them will not buy original that really problem.
Hope that SEA will have enough kaki to play it.
*
Yeah still not that many yet but that list is up since yesterday.

and hence my posts earlier. forget mineral patch, im not doing too well against normal confrontations with those frail zerglings lol. its only when i have mutas backing them i kick ass XD

very very mobile force with mutalings heh heh
and to think zerglings are just mineral fodders
*
I think speedlings are just as mobile since they can run so fast and able to split them up easily, and yes they are able to become banneling too.

really innovative i would say...
