I have been giving my adopted GSD addiction salmon bleu. She was infected with fungal infection. Her fur is too slow to grow back and she is still look so small in her age. I provide her Fish4dog salmon oil, it seems too much for her and she can't digest it. Any pro can recommend good food for her?

My puppies has been eating EVO dog food for more than a month. Diarrhea and loose stool still present even though the transition is slow. Now we just change to Orijen Puppy. 15% discount at Tickle pet shop puchong. Hopefully they can adapt it well.

Evo now is under P&G. You may refer to Dog food advisor. I have tried a pack for my dogs. Persistent diarrhea and loose stool up to 3 months. Clinically they are active, so my vet not forcing me to change food. Evo really does help my dog grow bigger, however, their body smell bad after taking Evo. Now i change to Orijen, their shit smell the same but no body odour anymore. I bought orijen at tickle pet shop (behind tesco puchong) with 20% discount. Basically their pet food provide 15-20% discount. Much more cheaper than those franchise pet shop.

I have tried addiction for my adopted GSD before. She is infected with fungal. Fur lost and patchy spots around the body. Was heard addiction claim to be good for fur. However, no result obtain after 3 months. Then, i change to EVO. EVO make my puppy grow bigger and shining fur. The sad thing is, she smell badly. She also suffered chronic diarrhea because of this food. Now she is having Orijen.

My boy who is on Eukanuba puppy small breed poos a lot and usually quite stiff. He takes a while to do his business too =(

Can't wait to switch him over to AD as soon as I can find a proper container or way to store the kibble.

Fiber will cause increase in poo freqency and amount. If you want less trouble for this, try holistic (grain free) and super premium food. I am currently feeding Orijen. The only problem with Orijen is, the poo is very smelly. Otherwise, frequency and amount is less compare to high fiber food.

Hi all

Just want some advice from u guys, got 1 adult dog (8yrs) & 2 puppies 4 mth & 8 mth (all small breed including my adult dog). Currently feed them Orijen 6 fish (all life stages) but according to pet shop assistant the protein content too much for my adult dog, I need to switch to lower protein dog food due to her age. She's no longer active like she use to be, lying down sleeping most of the time. But both my puppies hyper active. Fyi, my 8 yrs dog love Orijen so much but due to her age & lifestyle I need to switch to other brand. I need suggestion from you guys which brand suit my adult dog & my 2 puppies...Thanks in advance, really appreciate it..

Pet Shop assistant is not vet of product representative. You may go through alot of research about the dog food. The Orijen white paper show dog need high protein diet. Protein is important for tissue regeneration and replace carb as energy source. The only possibility of high protein diet in old age dog is renal failure. If you dog is healthy and has routine exercise as well as no strong family history of any kidney related disorder (Diabetes), then i do not see the issue of lower down their protein consumption.

Your dog must be golden retriever.

Erm.. ok la if it suits u. Anyway, dog like to be 'in routine'. He knows that when he doesnt eat it within the given time frame, he will get nothing at all. Hence, normally once i put my bowl down he will whack it. Only sometime he didnt eat when he is having diarrhea or still feels full.

Dog is not human. They need dicipline. You cannot pity him. We need to set the time for their food. You provide them the food then allow them to finish it off within you time frame. After the time frame, take off the food immediately. No food and treat shall be given until the next meal. You cannot pamper them just because you pity them. If the food comsumption time is irregular, then the toilet training will be difficult. You need to be firm with the training.

I feed my Myllo (Toy Poodle) on NOW (puppy) for more than 9 months... this brand seem give my Myllo excellent drive, recently I found the small breed kibble selling in Malaysia.. haha finally! Hope more furkids can try out this premium brand, but is a little bit expensive for 1lb approximately RM16.50.

You may rotate the same source of protein only. Not different source of protein. From chicken to fish then to other source of protein just increasing the chances of your dog getting allergy. Stick will 1 protein source only. Unless they develope allergy reaction, do not intend to change the protein source. Keep changing will cause your dog allergy and end up no food for your dog. Then your dog need to eat specific diet which is very very expensive.

GR is always sensitive. Too heaty, too moisture also cannot. Unless you put them in air-cond room. Blackwood actually not bad. It just contain grain within. My GR like to eat and the bigger kibble size compare to orijen make their teeth more clean. My rescue dog is fine with blackwood. Only problem is my GR has recurrent yeast infection. Even though i switch to Orijen, on and off you still observe red spot. GR is just too sensitive.

Hi all, just want to ask if Orijen 6 fish cause smelly poo? How about Acana, since the ingredient is slightly different from Orijen. Thanks
*
High protein source from animal definitely causing the poo smelly. However, animal protein is better compare to plant base protein.

Adrian, may I know where we can find California Natural Grain Free range?
*
Can get it from your vet if they carry. Not many pet shop carry grain free range. The price is almost reaching RM 300 for 13.5kg. If you are staying in selangor, can try to get it from Small Veterinary Clinic, Puchong. You may try to ask Pet Lover Centre as well.

I still have lots of the blackwood. Is it ok to mix the orijen?
*
How old and what is your dog weight. How long you have been feeding your dog for blackwood. Is the switching from previous food more than 7 days? Is either you overfed your dog or your dog cannot attempt to the food so fast. Some dog just need longer transition time. Try to reduce the amount of food and observe. If persist, get 10 days probiotic from vet for your dog. If both tried still presist, then your may consider change dog food. My dog need about 2 weeks of food transition time. Even a proper transition also will alter her bowel habit. So i need to gave her 10 days probiotic and each day give her 1 teaspoon of plain yoghurt/original flavour vitagen. Then the soft stool resolve.

U r right... Pink ones are for puppy. Green not quite sure...but purple n white ones are for senior dogs.

The last possibility will be worm. When is the last time you de-worm your dog. Normally, 3 months once.

Your dog should be poo X 2 per day. However, under certain circumstances, your dog will poo more. For instances, exercise. The more you bring your dog for exercise, the more poo you get. When you bring your dog out, sure your dog will poo and pee outside again even though you just bring to do so before go out jalan jalan. Exercise will increase bowel movement lead to passing motion and urine as well. No harm. Just replenish your dog with water after exercise.
