Hi, I have a 6 years old Golden retriever and recently she has some problems with her skin ( red, flaky and itchy) The vet suspects that she has allergies and suggests me to feed her Royal Canin Hypoallergenic dog food but it's over my budget. Any other recommendations for dog food that's suitable? Thanks.

Royal Canin Hypo is also Chicken if i am not mistaken. the good thinks in prescription diet is their Hydrolyzed protein, which mean the protein is broken down into digestible acids to be easily absorbed. Therefore it will lessen skin issues. If you want to try the non-vet diet, can try Grain Free food like Addiction Salmon/Natural Balance/Avoderm/Acana which have relatively middle range protein. If you opt for higher protein grain free, it will be Orijen/Merrick/Farmina N&D

I just bought a pack of Pro Pac grain-free..the ingredient list looks good but how is it as compared to the few brands you recommend??The shop also recommended Blackwood but I hesitated because it has chicken meal in it.. This is what I found for the Pro Pac dog food : https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-rev...tes-grain-free/actually it really doesnt matter which meat you are looking for. Although chicken is more prompt to skin allergies. Beef and Lamb is also in the list. this page said it https://www.rover.com/blog/7-common-food-allergens-dogs/My advice is check if the meat is really the cause for your dog to have skin allergy. if chicken is allergy, change to lamb, if lamb is then change to fish. And also it stated meat meal/meal, so you should be fine. There is no perfect dog food, just get the one that ok brand that suits your dog. but you have to try for at least 1 month to see the difference.

Hi, does anyone know where can I purchase Acana Puppy Small Breed either 5kg or 11.4kg bag? I'd been feeding my 4 months old Poodle Pom mix the 2kg bag and he cleared it in under 3 weeks...I feel it's easier on the wallet (and time) if I could get a bigger bag.
I'd seen the Acana Puppy and Jr 11.4kg bag being sold as well as Pacifica. Should I change his food to these instead? I just got him two months ago so I'm not sure if it's ok to change his food so early.

I have recently adopted a stray pup and she doesn't really eat the dog food I give her. She only take a little bit of the damp rice mix with eggs and meat. How big a portion I should provide for her?

QUOTE(Reanne @ May 7 2010, 12:58 AM) Dog foods that I have tried & what I think after studying the ingredients. From the bad dog food list I only tried one brand. The one I can't remember the name but I believe it led my beloved 10 year old mongrel to his casket due to my dad trying to budget without me knowing. My good dog food list:- Orijen, Acana, Artemis, California Natural, Solid Gold, Organics. My so-so dog food list:- Eukanuba, Proplan, Blackwood, NutriEdge, Avoderm, Nutro. My bad dog food list:- Pedigree, Alpo, Science Diet, SmartHeart, Trusty, some american brand sold in TMC. Any idea about Royal Cannin Maxi for Puppies. Reading the blog it seems that’s not a good alternative.
