i love turtle. use to have a pair of RES. i admit i was a lousy owner, didnt knew a thing about taking care of them, even the pet shop salesgirl told me they should be ok in a small bowl. looking back, i feel so sorry for them. im planning to get turlte now, but this time im going to get proper tank with basking area n UV lamp. good thing i can get all the info from this thread.
for any pets, we should gather info before getting the animal.

is it normal for RES to spend more time in water than basking area? is it even normal for them to sleep in the water?

QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ Nov 18 2011, 01:43 PM) Turtle ? How exotic you after ? First of all your budget , as you mention caramel RES thats pretty expensive !! Go local thats cheaps (But RES is still the cheapest in fish shop ) You mention turtle tank - those small tank with palm tree , bridge .........etc ?? Cheers not that type. fish aquarium, with proper filter n basking dock. i learn my lesson already. been watching lots of youtube video. i know its expensive, i would love to get that someday. what other local turtle readily available other than RES that not too expensive for a beginner like me? u from sabah too right, where can we find UVB bulb in sabah. i just use normal bulb for now. QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ Nov 18 2011, 07:28 PM) Normal bulb only good for providing heat . Thats it !!! UVB "provide or give" Vitamin D3 if your animals has no access to pure sunlight . Try Harvest I got mine from them !! You want bulb or tube they come in two type (same brand Exo Terra ) Cheers harvest is a shop? weekend i bring my RES outside to get sunlight, but pity the turtle on weekdays, in the aquarium all day n nite. i got Exo terra repti glo bulb, but i think the shipping damage it. so i want to the bulb locally. without shipping.
