Hello! I juz got my I~Star, and i got some question, does it need water? and can i put it in water but not covered with water?

1 Question, Star Tortoise shell will become "Horn Shell" when it get bigger? I mean, i saw some pictures of Star Tortoise on google, and im surprised..
