since this exotic/reptile animals keeping is bigger and bigger in malaysia. its high time we have an association of our own. unite together and fix the problem.

pool our resource together, work a way out and deal with the problem.

Added on June 16, 2010, 12:27 amhow to make something like petition ah?i dunno what to say anymore..they r really s%^*#..they said this is for the conservation..but in another part, they make the major destruction..Perhilitan must realize that,we cannot be too rigid in this issue..the fact is private collector or breeder oso contributing for the conservation..
to rise the awareness about animal, nature and conservation,we must educate our people..but how can we educate the people without make the people close to the nature..they even dunno that something like star tortoise, radiata,or anything else existed in this world..so,xkenal maka xcinta...kalo dh xcinta, species dh nak extinct pun buat xkisah je...kate nak conserve, hutan hari makin hari makin xde, ingat binatang tu boleh lepak kat KLCC ke ape..kadang2 malu ble bawak org luar pi tgk hutan kite..i have experience bring my japanese lecturer to one forest reserve in selangor..when we arrive, everything clear and only red soil remain there..my sensei really shock to see what happened, and forestry department verify that the area have been cleared to replace with rubber estate..rubber estate with the signboard of forest reserve..WTF.. vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

So has any members here declared their stuff?

When you declare, what does it involve?...only your name, proxy address & the species and number that you are keeping? Do you actually bring it to the local perhilitan or just take a photo of them?

Just out of curiosity, what are they(wildlife) gonna do with the surrendered chelonians? Sell them back at a cheap price to public like in the past or put up for adoption?

Maybe throw them in the wild or send all to zoo? Or more likely some underlings or senior officials might just keep them for their own & no one would know what happened to them. Taking in 500 torts and just say sending back 400 back to their original home(doubt it would be done..Madagascar/Sri Lanka/india duh??!!) leaves them with 100 missing that could go to their own home and reported as dead in transit.

It's just so sickening to think you are surrendering ur pets to a bunch of goons that 1)cant be trusted 2)ur pets fate wont be any better & most will probably die either under suboptimal care or during transport. **reminds me of a story i heard that leopards confiscated at one time was all thrown into a water pool as the officers there thought they are marine turtles..can swim, all ended up drowned and died a cruel death**

Pls keep updating any news you guys hear as only 2 weeks more to go. Thanks.

We want to abide by the law but the law doesnt seem any bit sensible or fair in any sense sometimes. Just imagine if they said anyone with pirated DVDs/Mp3 must surrender all of it, if not get fined 100k if found...Im sure there are more heinous real crimes out there but they are not too active in tackling those, instead become interested in trivial matters that dont contribute to ppl's well-being/health and country's economy.
*
damn its been a while....i wonder what they gonna do with all the surrendered stuff ? left them to die ? put to zoo or send back to original country ? i doubt the latter 2..we need to protest to this insane ruling...since we have kept it why dun let us get a permit ...

I may be wrong, but isn't this like having pirated movies at home?

Can these people actually raid our home? Let's say they ring on bell, we go quickly hide the animals, will they turn our whole house upside down, or will they just storm into our home? What rights do they have to do that? They need to get a search permit, get the police, etc etc.

So is the new law really targeting/scaring us or just mainly to traders which is much easier to catch?
*
they cant search or go in our house...they need a search warrant for dat...even police are outside your house oso cant search your house if no warrant...

Since we only have 3 sp of local tortoise lets spice up our local fauna list shall we ??

Since TRAFFIC , WWF our local wildlife department want no " illegal" stuff in private hand after 29thJUNE WHY not we donate to nature and set them free !!
