QUOTE(WiLeKiyO @ Mar 27 2011, 07:04 PM) Yes, the shell keep floating ! I never put them under sun light but usually I used the table lamp. ok.. not eating means quite serious already o.o This sickness i think its called pneumonia means infection of lungs or gas trapped in lungs im not very sure >< . i found that it is like flu for turtles.. Sometimes i leave them outside too long and maybe weather cold make them like this... So I read that the best way to cure it is to bring up the temperature, or in our words, help it have fever.. In our body heat generate itself to fight the bacteria when fever but since turtles are cold blooded, they need to be heated.. Few things you could do:Please help, they so kesian actually. - Water heater to heat the water few degrees higher than usual - Use a hotter lamp to make he temperature of surroundings hot.. try to cover most of the parts of the tank so heat will not get lost.. but leave space for heat loss and air exchange too... Here's the description of penumonia from Austin's Turtle Page.. this sickness quite common, my turtle kena also yesterday.. but ok di.. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « And here for swimming crooked/ shell float ( Raise all temps in the habitat by 5°. Consult a qualified vet as meds will be needed.) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Good Luck. If you keep it warm enough, your turtle will make it =) |

Hi, why not try using those heat bulb? I'm using exo terra brand. Previously using table lamps from ikea. Can feel the heat but after changing to heat glo infrared bulb from exo terra, there's a huge difference. Can feel the air around kinda heated/warm.I'm no expert but according to my vet, if their body temp increase, their immune system improves & recuperate much faster. Thus, what I've learn to take note are : 1) temp, especially in e night 2) sunlight 3) diet 4) exercise Hope I did help somehow. Do bring it to e vet if still unwell. Let it sun more. Else get a UVB bulb. Cheers & keep us posted. This post has been edited by Prince of Darkness: Mar 28 2011, 11:44 PM |

I don't have any heat bulb or UVB, it is expensive ? Below RM15 maybe I can afford. DIY ? tesco cheapo brand lamp - RM9.90 osram bulb - RM1.50 that is what most long time keepers of large quantities of specimens use. works as good as any expensive setup. if you're looking to treat pneumonia, the addition of an submersible heater (besides the lamp setup) would help. cheapo brand will cost around RM12-Rm15. |

Bro I bought my exo-terra Sun Glo bulb at less than RM15, at a pet store in a shopping mall.Btw, how do you put your heat bulb ? DIY ? Suggest you go buy exo-terra bulbs, not the cheapo ones... my turtle really love it coz it's damn hot, until my computer mouse nearby also feels hot, damn effective |

Perhaps why camillenoir recommended what he did is because: Damn hot bulbs = fried turtles.
But I'm just assuming. I don't keep anything besides an albino softshell named Tony Fernandez. |

Why hasn't anyone mention wattage but instead cheapo here or branded there !! Except for the uv lighting (I choose branded) for my sick n hatchlings the rest I buy the cheapo !!
You can go buy a 25 w Sun Glo n not do the job while a 60w or 100w cheapo can !! Why ha ?? |
