Regarding my enclosure. I have just got my fence up to those who previously saw my enclosure. Now my dog cannot intrude my enclosure and attack my torts biggrin.gif Comments? Other than drainage? The tomato plant has been moved to a further location.

Just curious. You gonna put star tortoise in that enclosure?what about the issue of star tortoise been illegal?if you put it in that..that'll open to public view,eh?i think that's too conspicous.
Don't mind my statement if you got the license.

Who said it was a star tortoise? I never mentioned that. It's for my RES smile.gif

Note: The previous post I've also mentioned it was not my picture. I'm just using it as a reference cause it is similar to mine. biggrin.gif

the circled plant looks like a clump of some amaryllid (lily). if it is, it is safer to move it away.

some of the rocks/bricks look loose and might accidentally get knocked over, especially the one directly over your red eared slider.

and by the looks of it, yup the enclosure would hold rainwater unless something is done.

A few types given

- Multi Vitamin
- Calcium + Vitamin D3 or without
- Probiotic
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just wondering what type of pellets you offering to your tortoise ??
- Most offered in Sabah shop are for turtle except for Exo-terra (which I think the wholesaler never stock ) But maybe you brought some in from KL or oversea !!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Depending on species you can offer dog food ever now and then for the extra calcium and protein !!

If I am to do this I would move the whole setup nearer to the building or best of all right next to the building !!

First of all do up some drain cover (Metal or cement )

As you have one less wall to think about and the " 5 foot way " provide eating plate (free from soil and jaw trimer )
Animals have dry land if it really rain non-stop while the existing drain takes care of the drainage problem !!

True about the drainage problem. Hhhm. But what if I were to increase the ground level to a slope so the water would flow out to one direction? or I could put pebbles at that area? Cause If I move it right next to the building, my mom would slaughter me. Lol. Nag bout me destroying the 5 foot way. Haha. Well your idea is great moving it there. I will consider on renovating it's sanctuary. Thank you so much for all your opinions biggrin.gif Fully appreciate them

Hi all,

Just bought baby RES turtle yesterday. Is it normal that it don't eat in the first few days? Because it doesn't show any interest at all on the pellet that i put in. Is it because of the water too cold? I just put normal filtered tap water. Should i mix some hot water to bring up the temperature?

Thanks

Cold water could be the cause but it could also be that the turtle is not well !! BUT about the hot water part , how long you think the " hot-er" water temp. maintain 5 minutes and then you add again ?

Go invest in an aquarium heater if your container is big enough !!
If can post some picture of setup , its location in your room/house ......etc

It just a simple square tupperware type plastic case the size of A4 paper with some stones in it for the turtle to climb. I changes the water everyday with filtered tap water and filled the case untill 1/2 inch water level. Today is day 2 already and still he/she didn't touch any of the pellet that i put in. I'm worry that he/she might die by starving.

I actually saw some skin peeling of from its tail, is it shedding skin?

Maybe you should get some dissolvable multi-vitamin or even turtle calcium block and add it in the water, it should help regain its energy by drinking.

I had my first few turtles too and they starved for about 3-4 days before eating, it should be because of environmental stress. Other than that, it might be some sort of disease it might have been inflicted.

And yes the skin peeling should mean it's shedding.

Wish your turtle the best, hope it's a-okay smile.gif

Shell floating?? Do you mean it does not dives but only floats all the time?
And the respiratory problem, does it show any signs or wheezing or coughing?

Hope your little turt is all right. sad.gif Maybe we can get a clearer view of whats going on if you explain your turt's situation clearer.

respiratory problem, no doubt. the turtle cannot sink because the lung could not function properly. we had several discussions on the remedy of since 2006 and i think i had posted several times on this thread alone.

anyway Ben, your best bet is handing it to someone who could monitor it during your absence. or you could feed it to your RTC and get a tamagotchi instead.
