For me, I'm not very happy I didn't upgrade my RAM. Takes ages to load but otherwise is able to run maxed out.

eh guys how is the keyboard? nice to type? might get this soon around next week smile.gif
*
Chiclet style with a very satisfying feel when depressed, quite comfortable to type on. Decent spacing and not so prone to making mistakes while typing now. My only problem is that there is a bit of flex on the top of the keyboard area.

I also just bought A42JV. I wonder if I should upgrade RAM with Kingston 1333 or Corsair 1333?
*
Both are equally good. It depends if there are any RAM incompatibilities.

oic.. nod.gif  nod.gif kinda not needed le.. tongue.gif

so it seems that the only "handicap" is the audio port rite?..the rest all normal lah..rite?. hmm.gif  hmm.gif  smile.gif
*
Well the mic thing is not a handicap for me, I got the adapter.

Then the slightly short battery life might be a turn off there.

izzit? then y asus provide elpida ram to us sweat.gif

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Aug 16 2010, 01:45 PM)
really? So our A42JV is Elpida RAM?
actually according to my knowledge, I think all RAM is compatible...lol.. because they follow standard.. anyway, no choice,
its either Kingston or Corsair. I'll return the Corsair if not compatible because the seller said compatible. If I listen to forumer,
and if it not compatible, I can't return...lolol
*
I opened up my A42Jv and found it was using Kingston DDR3-1333MHz RAM.

Every slot in SPD shows nothing?
Worth it or not, depends how much you value speed....
7200rpm doesn't do much....
*
That's right. SPD gives no info at all.

Sweet, it seems my hard drive went *boomz*.

And the culprit is a Seagate Momentus 5400.6.

It's still covered. Will send it to the Royal Club Service Center soon. But that makes me think twice about getting a Momentus XT now.

I trust Samsung more. But seriously need a bit more speed but not willing to spalsh out for an SSD.

I wonder if I can convince them to give me a non-Seagate hard disc.

Anyone notice when pressing both shift keys together, the numbers 1,3,5,6 cannot be pressed? The question mark can't be pressed as well ><...
Is that a keyboard problem or software glitch?
Any solution guys?
*
That would be called ghosting.

Those gaming keyboard won't have problem with that..
as other keyboard, well, it depends...

Not all gaming keyboards have anti-ghosting technology. It depends on the internal circuitry.

how come it takes so long to replace the HDD?? Doesn't Asus have ready stock for such a common thing??
*
They wanna do a complete diagnosis on it to make sure it's just a HDD problem.

QUOTE(dunkiedonuts @ Aug 24 2010, 10:39 AM)
Any symptoms before it kong-ed?
*
Not really, it was quite sudden.
