QUOTE(ROM_star @ Jul 26 2010, 04:37 PM) The latest Nvidia driver has a icon on your task bar showing whether the card is running or not. What about if medium settings or low settings? If the fps didn't change much also, means i5 450M is not enough i play C&C4 with high setting (not ultra high) and the FPS is varied from 15 - 25, so occasionaly it lags when many units on screen. Ohya.. i have the MSI Afterburner working, so i can see FPS on screen. Pretty useful i think. QUOTE(The Apocalypse @ Jul 26 2010, 04:41 PM) That's the default driver...latest is 8.17.12.5896.. QUOTE(markypcs @ Jul 28 2010, 01:18 PM) To make your component to run faster than its designed for.....Risk, more heat, dead gpu(should be less since not playing with voltage mod), unstable machine... So far option to overclock A42Jv is to run i5 450M@2.8GHz, Turbo to 3.2GHz or i5 450M@3.0GHz, Turbo to 3.3GHz and overclock the GT335M.... |

QUOTE(ROM_star @ Jul 28 2010, 01:33 PM) i updated 258.96 since last week... so far okay. In average around extra 10fps for L4D2 i also dare not OC it. just a noob. will the performance a big jump? i hav the silicone cover for keyboard (free gift). After used for a few days i decided to remove it as it kept the heat so felt a bit warm on keyboard. didn't test other games... |

QUOTE(ROM_star @ Jul 28 2010, 01:49 PM) Reaching 90+C, though the stock clock also almost reaching that temp, so not much addition, with no cooler, standard room temp....Palm rest still cool... QUOTE(ROM_star @ Jul 28 2010, 01:53 PM) Yup...QUOTE(Andrew Lim @ Jul 28 2010, 01:55 PM) I have a question. I'm planning to get an external microphone. I also want to use a pair of earphones or headphones. However there's only one jack in A42JV for audio input/output right? So that means I need to get a microphone that's attached to a pair of earphones/headphones, correct? Don't those kind of headphone using two plug?I think easiest is use the usb headset.. That is how Optimus works....
Nvidia OFF : Intel (compute) - Display to screen Nvidia ON : Nvidia (compute) - Copy result to Intel - Intel receive the result - Display to screen... Intel will always output to the display... This is how Nvidia is supposed to remove the flicker and blank screen when switching issues found in the older way in hybrid graphics... QUOTE(ROM_star @ Jul 28 2010, 02:15 PM) W/O OC, when i play games, i can feel the heat on my palm but it is acceptable. Yours is cool? Compare side by side, the palm rest even cooler than my Acer Mind show me which to adjust to OC, so i can adjust them 2nite. Tq. Added on July 28, 2010, 2:17 pm Ya, no doubt Nvidia is much better when playing games... You need to install MSI AfterBurner 1.60 then after installed, go to its directory under the program files(x86), open the msiafterburner.cfg if not mistaken, then scroll down, change the enableofficialoverclocking = 0 to 1 then save it.... then open the msi afterburner, from there, you can slide the memory clock and core clock... core clock gives more performance but more heat... Try adjust core clock first, try at first 50MHz, then go up slowly by 10MHz or 20MHz, each of it, test it using furmark couple minutes, check whether there's artifact or not, then keep slide the core clock up untill there's artifact or hang, then put back the value slightly lower before it hang, e.g if it hang at 820MHz, put it around 800 or 810MHz... then repeat it with memory clock.... The best I could get is Core Clock 577, Memory Clock 966... with i5 450M running at 3.0GHz, 3dmark06@1366x768 gain 9088 score from 7200 in stock clocks.... |
