The Mac OS version of Valve's digital distribution platform Steam will be released on May 12, the company confirmed today.
No other details on the launch were given--the announcement was a brief two sentences--though it will presumably debut alongside the native Mac versions of Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal and the Half-Life series originally slated to launch with the Mac client in April 2010.
Those that already own the above games via Steam PC will be able to download them free on Steam Mac. Future Valve games, like Portal 2, are slated to hit both PC and Mac simultaneously and will include both PC and Mac editions with a purchase of either.
I've installed OpenGL extensions viewer to see what is supported on my hackintosh -- some 3.0/4.0 functions are not supported. Anyone know what HL-engine is going to use?

I can't wait til they release Black Mesa Source (I bet you by that time HL2 EP3 STILL will not be out), then I'm going to play the half-life series starting by the first one all again.
