Finally, there are carriers in Malaysia promoting Android Devices, but boy oh boy, they seriously must be stupid? Why will a local telco company promote a USA telco company Application. Taken from:- http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/android/A...Marketplace.asp as of 30th April 2010

user posted image

Maxis, must be seriously either
a) stupid, for promoting another company's application which won't work on our local devices, or
b) lazy, for just copy-pasting the application list from the original Android Marketplace.

Also by checking out here:- http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/android/Android_Phones.asp , we can see that there is up to 5 choices of Android phones, which is great, since we get more choices, but the difference between the prices that Maxis offers compare to the regular retail price is only RM400. In USA, the Motorola Milestone is 199USD (it is called the Motorola Droid there) if you buy it from Verizon Wireless with a package, which is around RM700 if you convert it using the current currency exchange rate. Here in Malaysia, we buy it with a package, is around RM1899 (original price RM2299). They really are greedy assholes. They really still dont grasp the concept of how to sell phones. tongue.gif

This is a testimony that Android is READY for general consumer. Maxis doing this deal shows that they recognize Android as a upcoming platform. This is the time to get your Androids or consider it as a serious iPhone replacement hehehe...

when i read the advertisement from newspaper,
i hope maxis will have a cheaper plan for us,
at the end,
digi are still the best with data+voice plan,
on maxis,
we should sign for any value+data plan,
and digi only data plan+pay as per use call plan..

Its not copy and pasting.
The smaller heading says "Here's a small sample of the top apps on Android Market". So the pic below shows those top apps. Anything wrong? This is not Android Malaysia Market. Its Android Market.

I use the P148 plan from Celcom...
I only pay about RM150 a month and all of that goes to calls and sms AND i get unlimited data for FREE!
But u have to sign up for 24months but that isn't too far off from other plans

although digi offer a cheaper data plan which is rm68 for unlimited usage, but dun forget their 3G coverage is very narrow.. once you are out from the KL city, you most probably will only get EDGE connection.. which is very slow..

on the other hand, Maxis 3G got a better coverage which is approximately 70% along the north-south highway.

After using Maxis for almost 10 year, I've ported to DG. Line's not too bad and though the 3G always up down up down (swap to Edge), don't feel any difference yet. Average speed clocks @ 3xx most of the days (though they claim 700).

Cuz when the line is really really bad, there's always Wifi somewhere to safe the day. tongue.gif

i wen to maxis center and inquire about it. The only package that need to sign contract is data plan. voice plan can change from time to time.

True, it's not misleading or wrong, but it's promoting something that's not applicable locally. It's not that hard to omit that and choose another top android app.

And already, it's giving the impression of being sloppy and won't do the telco's brand any good.

Did you ask them for the stock availability? I wanted to buy HTC Legend, but need to book... Maxis are unable to answer when the phone will be available.

I am thinking of getting the Motorola Milestone from Maxis.

Good choice or not? Reasonable pricing?

for now, only maxis offers package + Milestone

its the best bargain rather than getting the phone itself from retailer

I've the HTC Tattoo that doesn't have the Android Market. sad.gif

I read that Android Market is not available in Malaysia, but Maxis site is promoting about the Android Market.

I went to one of the stores to try out the phone, but I was told that the phone cannot be turned on unless I purchase it.

Can someone here who have bought or have tested the Android phones sold by Maxis tell me whether the phones have the Android Market installed?

still would recommend buying desire AP or normally, as you going to pay quite abit for only 500mb (minimum), might as well depend on WiFi like this ;I
