talked to Hyundai sales, not HQ.

No information on Elantra.
Although they are trying to phase out the sales of the current Avante with 82k+, from previous price range.

They are concentrating in getting the Tucson and Sonata out the door....which with the new increase pricing...isn't helping...thanks to Sime, eventhough the unbeatable CBU warranty.

I suppose everyone's waiting for the Proton Lancer....

if the handling is good (not the current Tucson's feel), I might consider.
Sonata is just tooo big/long to find city parking

regardless of the "depreciation".
hopefully it's the GDi engine as well.
the 5 years warranty is well captivating.

Hyundai parts are equally expensive as Japanese parts...

well, if Kia Forte with GDI is coming with 5 years warranty like most current Hyundai models are...that's something to think about is accessories , price , style and drive feel.

I don't think there is a "who beat who" between them...all given to each people's taste on those other factors....

the engines would be identical if not the same platform.

an example,
doesn't really matter if kia forte is more powerful if wind noise are more prone than Hyundai's cabin...
it all boils down not to a brochure alone.

hmmm...not sure you guys read from paultan's blog about the dual clutch transmission changes in the future for Hyundai-KIA from the 6-speeder to the 7-speeder in the future for their 2011 cars.

while Nissan has proved from Sylphy some level of fuel efficiency in 2-litre engines using X-CVT, you can opt to believe that if Hyundai-KIA goes with this to ix35 (tucson) and i45 (sonata), they might soon move it to the new Elantra family as well.

pros and cons about this...but I still hope ,DLT in the future rather than CVT...partially of it's maintenance-free attribute.

meanwhile, I've known from few new ix35 and i45 owners that the car still isn't very fuel efficient regardless of it's 6-speed DLT.

I am going to assume it's just the VVti version, instead of te GDi for the 1.6. (checking Singapore sites).

hope they will have the GDi variant..140hp for a 1.6 makes is really fun to drive....compare to the heavy lug Cruze.

I think we will get 1.6 and 1.8 both with Dual VVT-i... 1.6 got 132hp while 1.8 got 148hp smile.gif
*
just for info 132PS and 132hp are completely different....the translated figure is less for hp from ps. Don't get fooled by that .

1PS =~ 0.986hp =130hp.

Not trying to neat pick...but for consumer knowledge.
Again, we need to know as well that 130hp from the engine depends on what RON we are using as well....

it's still better than CPS (aahhahahaah...).

Curb weight on the auto would be about 1305kg....pretty solid/heavy ride (not sure if it's 1.8 ), but the 1.6 might be around Neo's 1.2 ton area...

why i'm comparing with a Neo is basically, I've driven one, and the specs are comparatively. so, you might get what to expect with more 5hp on engine.

plus...a better wind resistance co-efficient design. sweat.gif

typical...the did the same for Tuscon and Sonata...
Great excuse to raise the price after 2012.

It's a "gimmick" sales now...depending if you rather wait?..or get the "early" bird price.

I have been getting calls from SA since i dropped my name in the interest list.

According to him, no need fees/deposit since the car is not even reach the shores yet. Just put name and photocopy i/c 1st then once the car launched then only collect deposits.

simply price it at "IF you really want a market in Malaysia?".

Answer that I'm seeing from the recent Tucson, Santa Fe and Sonata is..... NOPE.

btw, Kia's price < Hyundai....fact.

However, I'm pleased that they dare offer the 5 years warranty that NO cheapskate monopolizing Japanese carmakers are willing....

I just want Hyundai to buckle up their service centre and foreman skills.
