OMG - I just called one to the SAs in Kah Bintang branch. Tentative pricing:- 1.8 - RM110k+ 1.6 high spec - RM100+ k That's seriously suicide pricing, most ppl would get a Civic (RM115k). Really dissappointed with SD's pricing strategy. I was really looking forward to getting this Elantra..I guess not anymore Say it ain't so....

I was thinking of replacing my Myvi with this new Elantra, but with pricing.. I gotta look elsewhere. Btw, I also have a 1.5 year old Forte, and its a great car for RM81k.... I dunno why SD have this kinda pricing strategy with a locally assembled model somemore Hopefully bro Fluidic can provide better info in terms of pricing when he finds out more during his product training

QUOTE(youngblood29us @ Dec 18 2011, 02:17 PM) Every freaking SA is coming up with their own price they should refrain from speculating if they know nothing..Cant they be like Fluid? Agreed... there is just too much variance in price as what the different SA's are saying. Just better just to wait and see...just hope SD does not price Elantra like the i30.. almost 100k for a 1.6 car. How many do you see on the road?

OMG, at that prices, SD can keep the cars for themselves. To give them the benefit of doubt, I'd wait for an official announcement first. No use speculating on the prices.
DON'T dissappoint us, SD

Yup, confirm branded as Inokom "locally assembled"... From all the youtube reviews of Elantra in US, 1.8 model is the only one sold there, and it's the one to have. I have a 1.6 Forte SX, and its a bit undepowered. Elantra 1.8 should do the trick... and I'm willing to put my deposit down it its RM105k. Otherwise, forget it...

"C segment car with C segment price" means it will be priced like Civic and Altis, but with more equipment. With Malaysian's mentality stuck at everything with a T & H logo, this means ppl will still say "same price as Civic mah, why u buy this??"
See what I mean...? That's why SD has to undercut the Japs to steal some sales away from T & H

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Dec 27 2011, 10:26 PM) FluidicSculpture, fuel consumption should NEVER be measured in cents per L. Prices always fluctuate. It should either be in km/L or L/100km. 100% agree. I dunno why so many ppl like to say 'cents per km' when fuel price can fluctuate. The international standard is L/100km or km/L

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Dec 28 2011, 10:34 AM) Isnt re-education the key word in your Korean car world? Why follow a customer's whims when its clearly the wrong way? Re-education doesnt happen overnight the same way you cant expect people to suddenly jump over to Korean makes despite its better looks and specs. This will take time. But if you give up after the first few tries then whats the point? Those customers of yours are used to the WRONG system of measuring FC as many ppl are. The same with the full tank issue. But slowly you can educate them and they in turn will educate others and within a few years you'll get many ppl on the same page. But going back on your efforts and stating sen/KM will only take that re-education process back another 5 years. Stop doing it. Besides, are those FC rates for combined driving or 100% highway drives? It looks like 100% highway drives. If its for combined i would find that very hard to believe. Just for comparison, the 2003 model Vios (which is known for its good FC) only gets 6.5L/100km for 100% highway drives. I do agree with bro Fluidic also, Malaysian consumers are not the brightest lot when it comes to understanding FC, so easier to tell them 'cents per km' even though fuel price may change... imagine in the US/ Australia fuel prices change daily and based on location... so the only accepted global mileage term is either km/L or L/100km. Note that your car's trip computer states the same. Also remember FC depends on your right foot, and city/ hwy driving. No point discussing all this if SD comes up Naza Kia's pricing strategy (pricing close to Jap pricing). Case and point - the new Optima at RM144k!

QUOTE(burdoc @ Dec 29 2011, 04:40 PM) Me too. Bet, what's so special about nappa leather vs normal leather? Nappa is higher grade leather, usually softer than regular cowhide leather. Leather is avail is many differerent grades

QUOTE(DiamondBar @ Jan 1 2012, 12:48 AM) I will be happy if Avante can sell more than 700 units per month, this will teach Japanese car makers and Proton a lesson. Hopefully Avante prices are competitive, If Avante High spec can sell below RM 85K, then I believe Avante wants to sell more than 700 units per month should not be the problem... Currently Forte sell about 500 - 600 units per month. If SD price Elantra RM90k - RM110k, surely sells will be nowhere close to 700 units. Maybe 300 - 400 only at best. See the current pricing strategy with Sonata, initially sold up to 500 units per month after launching, last couple of months, 100+ units per month only. I have to admit, the the 2012 is an utter dissapointment, looks like a lousy facelift... equally slammed by the motoring press worldwide for a low quality product.
