if 3 series already same class with sonata, accord or camry.. then how about 5 series and 7 series..? limousine..? LOL.. i think 5 series for me.. category under B segment.. like seriously.. the rear seat is rubbish.. altho the tech in the car is one of the finest..

i think 3 series space is bigger than 5 series..  icon_rolleyes.gif

but i love Veloster.. wonder when will it launch.. hope so soon..  thumbup.gif

I guess you forgotten the Azera and Genesis, in other countries, the Sonata is not the biggest 'sedan' there is, it is only mid size.

QUOTE(WheelieWonka @ Dec 28 2011, 12:52 AM)
100% agree. I dunno why so many ppl like to say 'cents per km' when fuel price can fluctuate. The international standard is L/100km or km/L
*
Is it really that hard to reverse the calculation?

9/10 of my customer catch no balls when I say L/100km. They're always saying 'wah, so high' until I translate them into cent/km. What's the point of following international 'standard' when no one tries to understand what's efficient and what's not?

The other question to highlight my point is 'Full tank how much?', if I answer litre capacity, they'll give me the puzzled look and ask 'How much per tank?'

I do have L/100km figures if you all wants it. So here they are

1.6 Manual - 6.1L/100km
1.6 Auto - 6.7L/100km
1.8 Auto - 7.1L/100km

QUOTE(tony @ Dec 28 2011, 12:24 AM)
errr....so 1.8 interior may not be black ?  sad.gif
*
I am not too sure yet as the head of sales isn't around that day, hopefully it's black.

QUOTE(sonyman @ Dec 28 2011, 08:52 AM)
these numbers are combined? they look quite ok. u can take vw numbers as a bench mark, but some will say it is not fair. but i feel it is how a company makes the engine. merc e class coming soon with hybrid is about 4.9 or so L/km. for those who ask lower or higher better, this one lower better.nissan on sylphy uses km/L another way of calculating, so with this avante shoulkd get about 13 to 15km / L i assume. in fact the more the better.
*

'Extra urban'. Before someone say I am using Chinaman's term.
QUOTE(kulatkia @ Dec 28 2011, 09:51 AM)
I guess this 6.7/100km(1.6 Auto) was quote by Hunydai manufacturer and no surprise is only the same wat Kia quote their Forte as 6.6 litre/100km(1.6 Auto). but when come to real life everything should expect slightly higher. Personal thought i just wish Elantra can have lower FC as compare to Forte so that i have to kick out my consideration on forte  rclxub.gif
*

I have not yet test driven the Elantra before, but from past experience I am able to get 20% more fuel efficiency out of the Sonata and Tucson, I am quite confident I am able to do the same with the Elantra.
QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Dec 28 2011, 10:34 AM)
Isnt re-education the key word in your Korean car world? Why follow a customer's whims when its clearly the wrong way? Re-education doesnt happen overnight the same way you cant expect people to suddenly jump over to Korean makes despite its better looks and specs. This will take time. But if you give up after the first few tries then whats the point? Those customers of yours are used to the WRONG system of measuring FC as many ppl are. The same with the full tank issue. But slowly you can educate them and they in turn will educate others and within a few years you'll get many ppl on the same page. But going back on your efforts and stating sen/KM will only take that re-education process back another 5 years. Stop doing it.Besides, are those FC rates for combined driving or 100% highway drives? It looks like 100% highway drives. If its for combined i would find that very hard to believe. Just for comparison, the 2003 model Vios (which is known for its good FC) only gets 6.5L/100km for 100% highway drives.
*

Combined, or should I say, extra urban?

The thing about re-education is, you need to apply old knowledge to your 'reeducation'. Forcing people to accept a new thinking without adapting them to their current state of mind is called brainwashing. Before you say I am using the wrong system, you should check back a few pages where I posted a picture of me driving the Tucson at 8.8L/100km. That is the same picture I show to my real life customer whenever the questions of fuel efficiency comes up, they'll then ask how much is that in term of cent/km which I'll then tell.

No point using terms that will only confuse customers, even though it the 'correct' way of saying it.

Same for fuel tank, I always answer in litres, then in $ term if they asked, and I don't go all technical Nazi telling my customer that he or she must use litre capacity and not how much per full tank.

You guys are sure fast to jump to the conclusion that I used the wrong term wink.gif. I've always used L/100km since... Forever? Same goes for English, if your friend is not fluent in english, do you expect him to speak a perfect sentence before you accept his words?

GPS unit with reverse camera is on the 1.8 version. The one you saw in the video is actually people testing out HUs for the Elantra.

and I don't work directly under Hyundai-Sime Darby and at the end of days, head of sales dept will have the final say.

My friend is brining in HUs, DRLs and bodykits for Elantra smile.gif As for the orange colour, I don't know, Hyundai said there's 7 colours choice for the Elantra and only one remain a mystery, maybe it's the orange? brows.gif

QUOTE(kekura @ Dec 30 2011, 10:12 AM)
bro fluid, will we get TPMS, the tyre pressure thing....?
*
Don't think there is, but if the HUs is from the same vendor as the Santa Fe, there's a possibility of getting it as aftermarket accessory, since the HUs on the Santa Fe has such system, although not used.

i thought u said the 1.8 comes with GPS LCD HU bro fluid?
*
Allow me to clarify a few things

Yes 1.8 comes with the GPS LCD HUs, and if it runs on the same firmware as the GPS HUs found on the Santa Fe, it should have a plug-and-play ready system for the tyre pressure monitoring system. All it needs are sensors to monitor the tires.

The aftermarket GPS HUs my friend is bringing in are for those that opt'ed for the 1.6 variant.

Sonata less take up on recent months is probably because of limited supply. SA ask me to wait around 4-6 months if i want to book. He said it is difficult to bring more cbu car here with limited AP.
*
It more of a case where demand outstrips supply worldwide. There is just isn't enough Hyundais to supply the market.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Jan 2 2012, 12:54 AM)
Demand can be high but this demand cannot sustain. Not many ppl will opt to wait 4-6 months for a new car. If Hyundai/Kia does not improve on their production, these bookings will transfer to other makes. So even if you have high demand now but if it cant translate into actual physical sales, then its back to square one. Remember that if sales are slow and production cannot meet demand, then its a worse case for spare part availability as well. This is where the Japanese excel.
Assembly plants and production lines of Hyundai are running at three shift globally(3x8 hours), Hyundai themselves are still expanding their production capacity but unfortunately demand is still outstripping supply. It is easy for you to just say 'Open more factories, build more assembly plants', but in the current time of economy uncertainty, expanding too fast and producing too much vehicle is tying a noose around your neck while praying the execution lever malfunctions. It only took one recession to force Korea's oldest car manufacturer into bankruptcy, and also the world biggest car manufacturer into the same situation.

You seems to be talking like you're working with Hyundai to even conclude spare parts availability is dire in Hyundai, maybe cause you haven't visit the spare part warehouse in Glenmarie? Bear in mind too, Hyundai's hot models now are CBU, uncommon spare parts takes time to be sent from Korea.

Talk is cheap, unless you're the boss of some car company, you do not understand the situation HMC is in. It's ridiculous to expect Hyundai Sime Darby Motors to achieve in 3 years what Honda/Toyota achieved in 20 years, 5 years is a more optimistic target.

Welcome to the bands of disappointed brothers. laugh.gif

The only reason they gave us is our fuel quality is not up to par for GDI engines but I think cost is also a big factor.

but is the engine we're getting any good? fuel consumption and power-wise?
sad or not sad, still gonna wait since already made booking... *hopeful*
*
I am optimistic fuel consumption will be good. I'll test drive the car myself when it launches, see how low the FC can go.

Anyway, time for V2 smile.gif
