Hi UniFi sifu out there,

My area will launch soon Q3 this year, I have some questions need your help: smile.gif

1. Where can I find the overall connection diagram?

2. What type of input (phone jack?) from external into the Broadband Termination Unit?

3. What type of output connection from the BTU?
- phone socket for the dect phone?
- Cat5 to the router?
- ?? to the Set Top Box?
any others??

4. What's the recommended max length from BTU to each of the above outputs?

5. What type of output available on the STB to connect TV?

6. Must we use the TM-Dlink router? Can we change to our own prefer router?
(If yes, will Buffalo WHR-300N with dd-wrt perform better than the TM-Dlink?)

7. Can the UniFi and current Streamyx co-exist under 1 phone number? Or separate line is required?

Sorry guys, just don't have time to go through past postings, I know some (or even all) of the above questions been asked & answered before, would appreciate some quick response or links. I just want to prepare my place for the UniFi.

Thanks in advance! notworthy.gif

... just uploaded them on my site ( http://unifi.athena.my/ ) in the FTTH Wiring section. As for #6, yes you can.. read the custom router guide.
Thank you sifu rizvanrp for the guidance notworthy.gif
Also thanks to your another posting with regards to the back-door security issue which I read from TheMalaysinInsider rclxms.gif

Guess now I need to read and understand those sweat.gif

....#7, depends if you're doing a FTTH install or VDSL install (high-rise). FTTH will give you a completely new line.. VDSL will use your existing copper I think.

Most if not all your answers are answered in first post of the thread, might be easier for us to answer if you state whether you're in landed/high rise since the config changes depending whether you're on FTTH or VDSL setup
Sorry, I don't understand what is FTTH & VDSL blush.gif

My area is a landed 2-storey link-house, all current telephone cables are buried underground behind houses, no lamp-post type of cabling.
At about end of last year, I saw TM dig holes again and start lay some kind of new fibre cables, also dig & lay underground at the back of houses.
After that they built some kind of small green boxes atop the houses backyard ground, it's like 1 green box per 100m distance --> I also don't know what's it for tongue.gif

Actually I didn't know what was that until the TM technician told me it's for UniFi and now pending for commission only.
Check with nearest TM and they said estimate Q3 this year nod.gif

Hi UniFi sifu,

Just to re-confirm, is this thing (at the back lane) for UniFi service? May I know what it call?
This thing has been there since end of last year, I went to TM and ask few times they also cannot confirm when is the actual date to provide service also cannot accept pre-registration .... blink.gif

Any idea where and who should I contact in order to pre-register?

Sorry, am very new to this UniFi, try to learn more in advance blush.gif
