Me too, which brand of fibre modem did you get bro. mine's Huawei, quite few people complaining on Voip and IPTV for this modem.
Their CS/L2 support also scratching their head trying to figure out the problem.

My router can load many ips at a fast rate. Example i can get a few hundred server ips loaded in Counter Strike instantly    Same thing applies for torrent peers as well.

I'm not a fan of the tmnutters myself. And I do agree with your skepticism how well Unifi will be after caps are enforced (in particular low monthly bandwidth caps and throttled speeds. I could not get a straight answer from tmnut regarding this.)

What is worrying is, tmnut may use the low bandwidth cap to use as an excuse to cap speeds to 250 kbps if the rumors are true    which is alarming considering the high price for the region, and yet we don't get the best price/package 

However i am sure once it gets enforced and we don't like it, there will be enough waves of protest like what happened at launch in regards to the caps.

If you are a torrenter, especially to private tracker, maintaining upload ratio is important. This would be a huge difference between streamyx and unifi due to upload performance.

I was actually meaning that Unifi may actually be better since upload won't really count toward bandwidth cap.

Streamyx only has 512 kbps upload, compared to Unifi 10 mbps upload 
So you could argue that 5 mbps unifi BUSINESS package may be the better choice over all

Price still sux but at least the performance is better than 4mb streamyx.
10mb and 20mb unifi BUSINESS package is too far out of reach for most of us in affordability 
Lets just hope that consumer package bandwidth caps and throttle speed policy are revised.
PS: When i put emphasis on upload speeds, this is of importance for people who host servers whether it be web server, game server, file sharing (DC+, utorrent etc). It's most especially important for torrenting because the more you upload, the higher your priority is, which is why upload speed shouldn't be neglected. It's especially true for private torrent tracker sites like baka bt, and what.cd that puts importance on upload ratios. It's gonna sux if you got a measly 512 kbps for such private trackers when maintaining ratios.

But of course download speed will be the highest priority

When we have such competition, let's say you subscribe to 2 isps every month, isp A gets very slow, you can disconnect from it and try ISP 2 instead.

All these by just changing your username(different @ suffix- i.e: lolyat@isp1 or lolyat@isp2 and password.

New fiber networks have been springing up recently. H20 in UK using water pipes to run fibers, and a new method called GiG(glass over gas pipelines)
Routing fiber though gas pipes. Petroleum companies are venturing into this new field now such as TUX, Towngas Telecom HK.

streamyx can goes up until 24mbps based on ADSL2+ tech.
But with copper, there would be distance limitation,
maybe 5mbps = 50metre?
