Hello.

I'd like to ask some questions.

1. At the rear of my BTU unit, there are 3 LAN ports, 1 USB slot and 1 Console port available. For what and how can I use them?

2. At the rear of my STB, there's a USB slot. For what and how can I use them?

Thanx.

1. Oh, I tried to connect to the BTU via wired but no success. I got a limited connection and no internet access.
Are the ports only accessible by routers (I saw my D-Link router plugged to LAN1).
Or if I connect via wired to the BTU, do I need to manually "dial" the internet?

2. Is the USB port behind STP also unusable?

No worries bro. By the way which part of Shah Alam are you ? Even Subang Jaya i heard very limited areas actually got uniFi, despite me seeing them deploying their cables very progressively in Klang Valley they hv not added any new areas in the availability list. I personally spotted them in Kepong & Sentul
*

Sorry bro, I didn't notice your post.
I'm at Sect. 8. smile.gif

1. USB port on Fiberhome unit is for external battery power supply, don't wire a USB device into it. Console port is for Fiberhome firmware administration, use a Cisco console cable or any other rj45-r232 converter with yost wiring standard @ 9600baud with no hardware flow control to access it. Nothing much you can do there though, all data communication is performed over the fiber optic cabling. As for the LAN ports, you can only use 1 at a time. It carries 2 VLAN tags (500 & 600) meant for your DIR-615 router to separate for internet & iptv connectivity. You can only use one of these ports at a time and it can only be wired into the WAN port on the DIR-615 router. You can't plug a PC in there and another into the DIR-615 LAN ports and expect them to communicate -- will not happen.

2. STB has two USB ports, one at the rear and one under a rubber connector on the side. Can't use them for anything that I know of at the moment.

3. USB port that's usable is on the DIR-615 modem.. use it + Dlink shareport software to share a USB device over your network.
*

1. Wow, very detailed explaination. Thanks.

2. Oh! I thought there's only 1 USB port. Didn't notice the one at the side until I read this. Thanks again! I hope they can be used to watch videos from USB storage etc in the future..

3. Yep, I'm already using this port to share my ext. HDD. But only one PC can use the shared device at a time. That's a bit sad, but still useful. wink.gif

-
I have another question,

4. I see that some TV channels in the IPTV (like RTM1) can be paused, rewound, or back-2-hours. How can I do that to TV3 etc? In the user manual said only TSTV can do that. What is TSTV?

Hi! Have you guys encounter this problem with IPTV.
When watching live tv on IPTV, the channel will randomly freeze. Then you will have to switch to other channel and it will resume playing normally.
Any of u guys having this problem with the IPTV service?
*

Must understand, no cap for now.
Means that they currently "disable" the 60GB capping.
And they might "enable" it back in the future (tomorrow? next month? next year? 2020? no one knows).

QUOTE(merru @ May 19 2010, 08:55 AM)
just a question:
..can I upgrade my package ..if I just used 4mb like 3-4 month?
*i mean newly registered user can change package also?
or...I need to use the package for a year ..before changing the package?(fulfilling the contract)
*
Yes you can upgrade your Streamyx to Unifi even you are under contract.
I did mine. No penalty for the upgrade.
But I only allowed to discard my Streamyx once Unifi starts their billing (in June).
So for now, I have two internet accounts which are Streamyx and Unifi, and just need to pay the Streamyx bill since Unifi don't bills yet.

And not to forget, once upgraded you cannot downgrade if you feel unhappy with the new account (Unifi).
If downgrade while still under contract, will get penalty.

huh? icon_question.gif

Can anyone (esp those current unifi subscribers) confirm the bolded part of above post?

The RM149 (VIP5 pack) is NOT INCLUDING phone rental? i thought this unifi package is bundle like those streamyx combo deal (i.e. 140 for 4Mbps including phone rental - one off for every month)...no? rclxub.gif

since i won't use the phone call at all as my whole family have their own cell phone...
*

1. For the bold part, yep I confirmed it is that way.
Because the Telekom phone rental isn't related to Unifi at all. Or simply say: Telekom phone line != Unifi phone line.

Unifi gives u a new "phone line" over IP, that's why u will get a new phone number. This new phone line is free (no rental fee).
So, if you discard your old phone line, you will NOT need to pay the RM25 rental fee (but you get a new free phone line).

Lol, 4 hours ago.. someone who claims they're from TM gives me a call, states my full name and asks me if I'm a Unifi subscriber. I say yeah and then they inform me that they want to replace my 'remote'. I'm like okay ..

2 hours later, some random guy (in plain clothes and a non TM vehicle) shows up at my doorstep with a brand new IPTV set top box remote control and hands it to me.. then asks me to pass him my old remote control or he can't give me the new one. Since I have no idea what the heck is going on and can't be bothered about IPTV, I just pass him the remote and he hands me a brand new, identical IPTV set top box remote control and asks me to sign a form confirming that he's delivered it to me.

So I'm just in a 'what the **** just happened' state at the moment :/ Called Unifi tech support and they have no idea about this either. Yay for random IPTV STB remote control deliveries. I wonder if they're going to give me a second Fiberhome unit next :3

UPDATE : Oooh, it seems like some of the buttons on the previous IPTV remote are defective. Guess some of you guys will be getting a call from TM soon biggrin.gif
*

I got a call just now from Unifi staff for an appointment to change the remote control tomorrow. smile.gif

Argh, I'm just frustrated!
Knowing that I am not a try-n-buy customer.

Try-n-buy customer gets special price for their package.
eg. they get VIP20 for only RM199, which is RM249 to others.

I thought try-n-buy customers are those who subscribe their unifi before 30 June (because it's free to try until that date).

brian & leon,

Many thanks guys for the information.

Anyway guys have a few question again before i proceed to Unifi...

1) Since part of you have the unifi... the monthly bill according to the package let say RM149, i need to pay monthly at that price rite? but if make call to mobile phone it will show the RM149 plus the mobile phone charges... is there any hidden charges will incurred?

2) Can i register Unifi by phone instead of going to TMpoint? Is it legal by doing that since no proper documentation..

Sorry for my ridiculous question..  notworthy.gif
*

1. I'm not sure about hidden charges. But I don't think there will be any (if there's any, you should argue with TM).

2. Yes you can. I registered my Unifi thru phone call only (1-300-88-1222), didn't have to go any TMpoint to register.
Then the proper documentation will be provided upon installation.

Darth Vader,

many thanks for the info.. i guess that i'll proceed with the Unifi@RM149-00, anyway all the password been given by Unifi we can change it later rite or we can do it when technician came to installed?

thanks again for the reply... notworthy.gif
*

You're welcome.
About the password, IINM currently we can't change the pre-defined Unifi account and email password.
I think if we want to change the Unifi password, we'll have to ask the technician / call CS and to change it (unlike Streamyx, we can change those passwords thru the website).
Only router access password we could change.

p/s: However I might be wrong. unsure.gif

Anyone get this error with IPTV?

QUOTE
[s]Error code: 102010
Network error.
Check and ensure that the network cable
is connected securely.
If this message appears again, contact
your service provider.

I am facing this problem from last week already.
Already checked the cabling, all is plugged in good. Even tried changing new cable.
Reset the router didn't help though.

Have made a report to CS last week, but still didn't sorted.
Called them again just now, he said problem from their side and ask me to wait more.
I already waited for 1 week. GrrrRR!

Is this happen to u guys too or is it just me?

Update: OK now baru settle. huhu.
This is epic fail. X sampai 30min after I close the report, problem comeout again.
Kena buat new report lak tu..xleh reopen previous report.. Demm.[/s]

K, now really settle I think.

Did your LAN4 port on the router lit up?
