Only thing limiting it is the 10/100mbps port on the Fiberhome. Biz packages have the same Fiberhome modem if I'm not mistaken.
I wonder what happen if you can switch modem to a 1gigabyte port one Unifi Official TM UniFi High Speed Broadbrand Thread V5, Still, NO cap 4 all unifi packages 4 now

QUOTE(palmjack @ May 29 2010, 06:20 AM) Even if there was an exploit TMNet can monitor you and such a hack would be a breach of your contract's T&C. I don't think it's worth doing it. What exploit? I don't think making yourself able to use your own router is considered wrong Can we direct our efforts towards configuring other routers for use with Unifi? @jack
No no you misunderstand me For example 5mb unifi also comes with iptv that uses an additional bandwidth ontop of the 5mb which is solely for your internet. My intention is to use router just for that 5mb ( using a better router then the DIR-615 which only has very few maximum simultaneous connections for p2p ), not to use it for the additional bandwidth strictly for iptv ( i still want to use iptv cause i hate astro ). But just curious is that ok to do the later :/ ?? This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: May 29 2010, 08:55 AM |

QUOTE(palmjack @ May 29 2010, 08:57 AM) Ok, I meant the hack to uncap it and get 100 Mbps. That would only get one in trouble with Tmnet and account suspended at the very least I suspect. Oh yeah, that one is definitely bad. I didn't even bother considering doing that, after they black list you I'm a bit surprised it is possible to do that from user end side, why is that? |

QUOTE(76radius @ May 31 2010, 08:46 AM) OMG, I managed to connect to the internet directly to VDSL modem provided by TMnet, I may throw DIR615 already. Radius do i still need a vlan router to separate the iptv, iphone and normal internet ???Default Setting by TMNET to my Condo : (a) VDSL Modem (Locked by TMnet as a Bridge) --> Dlink DIR615 (as PPPOE Dialer) --> 1) IPTV & 2) Internet Now, after I gained access to their VDSL modem, I can opt either of these two settings : (1) VDSL Modem (PPPOE Dialer) --> PC directly (2) VDSL Modem (Bridge) --> MY OWN WIRELESS ROUTER (PPPOE) --> Internet OBSERVATION : TMNET purposely locked their devices and force end-user to use their DIR615 router for monitoring reason as highlighted by Rizvanrp. F*** Tmnet. Very Sick GLC. BTW, I really wanna thank RIZVANrp, I use the same method Rizvan did for my Cisco RVS4000 by setting "TRUNK" in VLAN Setting of the VDSL Modem which they/TMnet locked in default. I'm hanging between the WNDR3700 (probably can do vlan tagging with dd-wrt) and the ESR9850 (can't do vlan tagging for ethernet as far i know). Can let me know asap This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: May 31 2010, 08:58 AM |

QUOTE(76radius @ May 31 2010, 09:03 AM) Are you in High rise building or Landed Property?. If High rise building much easier, we can unlock their setting in VDSL Modem. If Landed Property, I believe they provide BTU unit which you can only can access thru DIR615 secondary admin password as what Rizvanrp did. Landed. Omg that sucks for me Probably have to wait a bit more see what Riz solution is. After i spent 7xx on router can't work = gg For example the ESR9850, even though can support many simultaneous connections, i don't think it will do much good if it has the DIR-655 between it and the modem This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: May 31 2010, 09:07 AM |

I couldn't find any vlan router :[ (spent a long time searching)
I heard maybe the 100mb port routers may have that feature. Then maybe can add a gigabyte switch to it for any lan traffic. Any router suggestion :[ ? |

QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Jun 1 2010, 12:28 AM) If you just use the secondary router as a wireless switch/AP, the stress will still be on the DIR-615 as it's performing the network address translation and handling the PPPoE connection. That is what i'm trying to avoid Whats the point then of using own router. May as well get a switch for local lan to lan traffic @riv I saw one of your possibilities was to use a vlan capable switch in this setup. Fiber modem > vlan switch >> your own router > your pc. Does this method work ??? I wouldn't mind investing in the hardware QUOTE http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/lanwan/lanw...riefly-reviewed Here biggrin.gif I was looking at LYN pricelists and I agree its kinda of hard to find a gigabit wireless N router with full dd-wrt support. As you can see, the GS105E supports VLAN tagging and port mirroring. So the setup would be.. Fiberhome modem -> GS105E (Port 1). Then you set up VLAN ID 500 on port 2 and VLAN ID 600 on port 3. Port 2 will then be able to connect into *any* Wireless router with a WAN/Internet port that supports PPPoE connections. Port 3 would hook up into the STB for IPTV access. This is what I'm guessing should work based on my tests. The Fiberhome modem basically sends 2 VLANs over the same Cat5 cable so your hardware has to assign each VLAN to a different port in order to use the services. About the forum thread, what the guy means is basically dd-wrt has no software support for VLANs on gigabit switches. Which is weird because tweiyang11 is using the WRT310N.. maybe the GUI says it supports VLANs but it doesn't actually work? Anyway.. if you dont want to risk flashing your router, you will need a piece of hardware to handle the VLAN tagging and I think the GS105E switch is capable of doing that @ the cost of 60USD. Gonna pick one up soon and test it out This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Jun 1 2010, 01:35 AM |

QUOTE The second way is what I tested and confirmed yesterday, which is using the dir-615 as a vlan switch/bridge. It will perform the VLAN tagging only (putting very little if not no load at all on the dir-615) and enable you to use any router you want with Unifi. 2nd method sounds more preferable to me. But is it possible to swap out the dir-615 for the vlan switch and use the same 2nd method? or is that not possible :/ I feel like taking a sledge hammer and giving the dir615 a few smacks I saw behind my house, they just installed that FTTH thingy. Beside the greenbox now has some sort of white box with the letterings ftth huzzah ![]() This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Jun 1 2010, 10:52 AM |

QUOTE(jx13 @ Jun 2 2010, 11:23 AM) hi riz, i'm noob (1st posting) interested in unifi signup, been reading past posts to catch up. Hi jx13.moogle (hi!) asked abt your earlier smart switch suggestion, wouldn;t that be cleaner in case the 2ndary (and unofficial) acct gets bumped for whatever reason since vlan tagging is the only (?) issue here ? yes addit $$ needed for switch but don;t need to touch dlink/backdoor for most ordinary users like me fiberhome-> smart sw -> generic router -> sw (or another smart sw ?) unless i am missing something u covered in a post earlier then ok my bad (pls enlighten ?). or too simplistic... ? tks I'm not an IT expert. I'm quite av average pc user I was actually reffering to Riv's previous comment in the Unifi V4 thread where he mentioned 2 interesting possibilities. 1. Use a router like RB450G (has router os) 2. Use a smart switch which had vlan support, and pair that to any router you want. Fiberhome > Vlan switch (e.g. GS105E ) > any router (vlan and dd-wrt support not required) http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...entry33092128 I think rizvanrp is still compiling his guide, so just waiting to see what he has to say about that ps: to me it sounds like the 2nd method would be the best for me. the 1st method probably is superior in terms of hardware/software but harder to configure for newbies. A 3rd alternative would be a atom mini-itx pc with 2 rj45 ethernet ports installed with BSD + pfsense which may be even better then the RB450G, but maybe just as technical to setup for an average user like me :/ This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Jun 2 2010, 11:50 AM |

Add some google ads. Can generate some $$ to buy hardware to mess around with

I found a very good candidate router for p2p. But it's wireless performance sucks a bit, but if you can put up with that, i think it's the best option next to rb450g or atom mini itx router
Draytek Vigor 2130n The review: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wi...-2130n-reviewed Specs: http://www.draytek.com/user/PdInfoDetail.php?Id=111#PdInfo What caught my eye Switch --------- - Port-based VLAN - 802.1q Bridge - 1 Gigabit WAN port - 4 Gigabit LAN Ports VPN --------- - 2 VPN Tunnels - IPSec LAN to LAN, L2TP over IPSec * and PPTP Remote Dial in - Encryption : 3DES, AES - VPN Pass-through - PPTP MPPE Bandwidth management ---------------------------- - Layer 2/3 QoS by Ethernet Type, VLAN ID, TCP/UDP Port, DSCP, ToS, Tag Priority - Bandwidth / Session Limitation *check the review for the full set of features. Too many for me to list Demo for router configurations http://www.draytek.com/user/SupportLiveDemoDetail.php?ID=59 Vlan port for the Unifi + vpn to bypass throttling (this won't bypass bandwidth cap if they add it later) + set bandwidth and session limits for each connected device on your network. QUOTE(ywkwy @ Jun 2 2010, 11:35 PM) I get the price cheaper than rm770, and can be further discount if bulk purchase. if somebody need this router too, we can make a bulk purchase and request for further discount. now im considering between dir825 and WNDR3700 =.= Seems openwrt + backfire can do vlan tagging for the wndr3700 dir825 - cheaper, lifetime warranty, dd-wrt. WNDR3700 - pricey, 2 years warranty, dd-wrt, and seems like performance better than dir825 pm me for bulk.. https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=24274 |

QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Jun 3 2010, 04:16 AM) @dr3nchippo Riv actually, isn't it possible to upload the beta firmware into our router ?I'm aware of 7.01 firmware routers and you have nothing to worry about. If you notice your 7.01 firmware, the login page lists all the accounts on the system. In the latest 7.05, it doesn't do that because they want to 'hide' the secondary operator account. You only have 'admin' and 'user' on your 7.01 beta tester firmware. 7.05 customer firmware has 'operator' and 'admin' so you have nothing to worry about, just don't update to 7.05 haha Because tmnut is planning to change everybodys password so they cannot disable, can we upgrade firmware using the beta 7.01 firmware ? Anyone has the bin file ? This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Jun 3 2010, 04:18 AM |
