QUOTE(warlove3 @ Jun 11 2010, 10:59 AM) lol? by right they should do around that much as the RAM inside are huge, i'm currently maxed out by 4096 connection as DD-WRT wont allow me to go above that figure, so far to connection to router is stable but will lock up eventually....wanna try the heatsink mod to cool of the chip....will post results when i'm free.... If you have more RAM you can increase the conntrack table size manually to go over 4096.btw their wireless sucks big time when using stock firmware....the DD-WRT K26 seems to be working fine so far...but still have a few issues with wireless... http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Asus_RT-N16 - full specs of the router.... |

QUOTE(thankyou @ Jun 11 2010, 04:45 PM) I can see enterprises using that for Unifibiz but not home users. For RM700 you can have a brand new intel atom based firewall running pfSense or some other router/firewall distro. Combine that with a wireless AP for excellent routing performance.. that would be the system I recommend for users who have 5-10 heavy p2p users at home on VIP20 (even though it would still be overkill with those system specs). Not to mention you would be able to plug it directly into the fiberhome without using the DIR-615/smart switch as a VLAN bridge since those distros support VLAN WAN interfaces. |

QUOTE(warlove3 @ Jun 11 2010, 10:10 PM) This is just a question of how many NIC's you have. But you don't need to anyway, just plug in the dir-615 and use that for IPTV. A pfsense rig and the dir-615 can be used at the same time but the pfsense router doesn't have to connect through the DIR-615 using VLAN bridge mode since it has VLAN support on its own. |

New Unifi install policy to change the 'operator' password.. some people messaging me saying it doesn't work anymore ._.
QUOTE UPDATE 11th June 2010 : I've been receiving messages from Unifi users telling me that these passwords do not work on newer Unifi installs. If your router is using Firmware 7.05 (listed at the top right corner of the web user interface @ 192.168.0.1), these passwords listed below are the default combinations for that firmware. If these combinations are not working, it means that TM has changed their install policy to modify the passwords for the 'admin' and 'operator' account. Please contact TM and make sure they give you access to these accounts.. especially the 'operator' account so you can configure the security yourself using this guide. It is your right as a user to have access to both of these accounts so that you have control over your own router and network security. If they refuse to disclose the passwords, pressing and holding the RESET button with a small pin/pen tip for 10-20 seconds while the router is powered on (until the power light changes from green to orange) will reset your router to the stock username/password combinations listed below. This will also reset your wireless and internet connection settings, meaning you have to re-insert your Unifi username and password into the router and save the settings yourself. If you are refused access to the 'operator' account and have to reset the router to regain access to it, please get a tech savvy friend to setup your router for you properly. All the required material this person would need is on this website and the router configuration is the same as Streamyx (if you're on Unifi VIP home packages). If there's anything else, please contact me on my forum.lowyat.net account -- rizvanrp . Stay safe, - rizzy |

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Jun 12 2010, 03:32 PM) Finally my place got unifi. I'm scheduled for Wednesday next week for them to set it up. I also just got the brochure a few days ago even though I've been using it since launch week. I think they needed time to print it.. but you're lucky they covered your area Today i got the brochure explaining about Unifi, so i called up to check if it was available and it was. Previously they said they would call me as soon as they had it. They never did. They were probably hoping to keep quiet until next month when i would have to pay for installation fees like most unifi users would..... i wouldn't put it past them thinking along these lines But then again i did receive the brochure *grumble -.-; My advise, chase them up yourself and don't expect them to revert back to you even though they say they will. They are good liars And another worrying thing. In the brochure, they still say the cap remains the same as during the Unifi launch. Kinda worrying because they will later use that as an excuse to cap what they originally planned as soon as more people have signed up. I would advise some caution regarding their cap policy for the future I'm not really worried about data caps, can bypass them if you have teh skillz |

Wow, what assholes. Anyway, if the default gateway is the same but you cannot access the configuration.. its likely they may have changed the management port from TCP 80 to something else. Call them up and ask for the details. If they refuse to give you access to the unit, either just reset the router back to stock config (if you know how to reconfigure it) or use a port scanner on the router and check what ports are open. And no, the webmail password is different from the PPPoE password. Both should be printed on your install slip though. --- It seems that TM has upgraded their router firmware. Hardware box and stickers still say firmware 7.05 but it definitely is not 7.05 anymore. ![]() Firmware 7.05 port scan ![]() Firmware 7.xx(?) port scan (new firmware) As you can see, there's no http server banner anymore. Which means you cannot access your own router config. Furthermore, Lucas says they're not willing to give users their PPPoE user/pass combination anymore and you're forced to use a 8 digit pin combination on the back of the router as your wifi pass. It looks like TM failed WPA security 101.. I wonder how long it would take to generate a rainbow table for an 8 digit wifi pin number. Furthermore, you won't be able to set port forwarding anymore. I also have no f***ing clue why there are random ports like POP and SQUID open. I'll look into this soon. Its probably reversible This post has been edited by rizvanrp: Jun 12 2010, 09:35 PM |

Whats the point of not telling the customers their PPPoE user and pass? You're paying for the damn account and it's so bloody easy to intercept a PPPoE connection and grab the user + pass. Then their helpline will just act dumb and pretend they suddenly cant give you your own user/pass combination.
They're just making people suffer for an already overpriced service. |

I guess so. So people will have to buy a high end router + smart switch if they keep locking it up like this. It's pretty easy to capture the user/pass. Either do a man in the middle capture by using a hub or set up a fake PPPoE server and let it connect to it to capture the user/pass. |

Yeap, set up a pppoe daemon on linux.. or I could write one for Windows easily. I normally go for the hub or 2 NIC bridge man-in-the-middle method though. @klgoh99 The DIR-615 router supports DDNS and port forwarding but if they lock you out, you wont be able to use those features. I'll look into it soon. |

QUOTE(Mokuton @ Jun 13 2010, 10:58 AM) I don't use megaupload or rapidshare so I can't tell you. Youtube upload is definitely over 1.3MB/s, rapidshare from what I can see as a free user is only 200-300KB/s.As for your own router/modem, it's what we've been discussing for the last 10 pages or so.. so you can just refer to that Added on June 13, 2010, 11:56 amAnyway just settled Lucas's problem. TM did not disclose his PPPoE pass and the router seems to be working fine but it was malfunctioning for some reason. Still on 7.05 firmware and default username/password combination, something could have happened when it went online.. who knows This post has been edited by rizvanrp: Jun 13 2010, 11:56 AM |

I started the router without the WAN port plugged in, then I logged in and disabled the TR-069 feature + secured the other features. |

QUOTE(St1GL1TZ @ Jun 14 2010, 11:15 PM) just got the VIP 20 installed, tested it out with a couple of torrents, initially the download speed was great - about 700kb/s then it fell drastically to bout an average of 100kb/s, is this what VIP 20 users usually get? Lulwut? You should be getting 2.3MB/s tops.. at least 1.4MB/s+ on the average public torrent ._. |
