QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ May 21 2010, 10:34 AM) the meaning of Dolby is surround sound technology. Sometimes it can improve sound quality because the hardware to produce the sound must meet certain standards right? Dolby have a lot of method/standards u call it...... as Simple as Dolby NR... just a Noise Reduction Algorythm.. u can find this in very old Cassette player... another simple one, Dolby Pro-Logic, it mix a normal stereo sound an channel it out to Surround 5.1 speaker.. then is have Dolby Digital, a codec,a standard of code/decode sound from 5/7 channels in digital form... and a lot's more.. like Dolby TruHD etc etc... there is nothing that a sound system must meet certain standard to comply with Dolby... another words, there is a label of DOLBY doesn't gurantee the sound quality... u use one of the Dolby Method.. u can use the Dolby Logo... U use 5 piece of RM10 computer speaker plug to ur pc.. put it surround u, and u play DVD movie.. u are in Dolby Digital!.... this same apply to DTS.... just the method they implement and u follow .. then u are DTS bla bla... agains, it is Nothing to do with the sound quality standard...... if u talking about THX standard and YES.. u have to meet a certain sound quality standard than u are certify to THX... Added on May 21, 2010, 12:52 pm QUOTE(CyberSundayz @ May 21 2010, 11:57 AM) if the video recorded from phone 720p 2channel audio..how can it's produce surround sound from HDMI? does it have 2 mic? else how does it even record 2 channels audio? QUOTE(gzero @ May 21 2010, 05:44 PM) the surround sound will kicks in if you play movie file like DVDRip or BDRip with 5.1 channel encoded on your phone, not the video that you record. how many of people who use a phone will put a DVDrip with 5.1 surround(can u actually find a Rip with surround sound?)... or even BDRip with surround into a phone? |

Actually I am very very doubt about it can play HD smoothly... If included Multichannels audio codec, the doubt are even higher...
the ONLY reason why it use HDMI I can think of is ONLY they wanna output the HD(720p) recorded video... .mkv? in low resolution maybe.. in 720p or 1080p.. forget it... |

QUOTE(BBXiong @ May 21 2010, 06:11 PM) this one have many factor, the profile they use, the bitrate, the compression method... yah.. it depend on all those things too...i believe that it could play smooth in 720p, cos even with OMAP 3430, 720p playback is already smooth, not to mention playing it on OMAP 3630, which is higher spec |

if the program run purely on software base.... it will purely rely on CPU... a GPU will not play a part on it at all... |

QUOTE(BBXiong @ May 24 2010, 09:28 AM) from my understanding on existing symbian^1 and the N8's symbian^3, the kernal will still be similar, if not the same, all they did was optimize the codings, polish the UI, so i bet most the symbian^1 apps would still work on it, personally, i hope garmin would work on it...don really wanna rely on that OVI maps, i heard the accurate aint as good... By far GPU computing power are much higher than a CPU in x86 architecture... All what u said are correct in term of a normal PC... But power consumption, GPU is one of the highest drainer of Power in PC... however i think they could just use some prettier icons, cos although the s60v5 icons are nice to look, it kinda feels out dated when it was used on a new OS.. hmm..2k, maybe can make it by then....yeah btw just read back about the arguement in CPU vs GPU decoding...for those that don understand, pls google software decode vs hardware decode or something..GPU, even low ends ones, are capable of much higher computing power compared to ur CPU, there's various sites that benchmarked, with CPU, 1080p is laggy and frameskipping, and it's on full load(100% usage), and when they turn on hardware acceleration(GPU decode), not only did the CPU usage went as low as to almost idle(cos there are other programs that are running as well), the video played smoothly...hardware acceleration is very good in terms of performance and also cutting down battery usage, and imagine something that can render OpenGL2.0 graphics, i bet the performance is dunno how many times better then the 680Mhz CPU...so, yeah, GPU > CPU But not exactly sure in term of mobile word.... how's the CPU vs GPU computing power... but 1 thing for sure, with GPU, the hardware decoding help a lot... Added on May 24, 2010, 11:32 amBASED on GSMarena... the phone now available for pre-order.. Euro470.... today EURO - RM = 4.115.. so.. 470 x 4.2 = RM1974.... Look like some of us hoping for RM1300 - 1400 region are ... ... ... .. This post has been edited by BuFung: May 24 2010, 11:32 AM |

U don't have to do that.. in software like PowerDVD.. u can select either Hardware accellerate or Software... |

QUOTE(BBXiong @ May 25 2010, 11:19 AM) well to be fair its res is already sharp enough...extra pixel would bring more stress to GPU on gaming, and smaller fonts... 360 x 640... not fair enough... coz it is exactly same like N97... surfing net are not good enough.... i think 600 x 360 is best for its screen size screen slightly bigger and with WVGA.. wow.. perfect.. |
