Avoid conversion filters. They will not provide you satisfying image quality.

QUOTE(turion64 @ Apr 27 2010, 04:11 PM) hi all sifu, wide angle conversion for camera usually are non branded 1 and you might not be satisfy with the result. For camcoder it is much better, especially sony they hav their own wide teleconverter for it. u can ask at your local camera store for information bout it and i saw 1 before it came with wide angle together with a macro.Like to ask..What is the best Wide Angle Conversion Lens? for Canon 58mm kit lens. many thanks |

if you wan wide convertors, don't get one which is < 0.7x as the image distorts greatly...
also avoid china brands or oem brands...mainly the wide convertors which are often 0.43x 0.45x, and comes together with a "macro" unit..the quality of these lenses are really crappy... you can choose brands like Raynox, Sony, Olympus, Canon, Nikon, Minolta...which will produce much better quality image from the above mentioned convertor... some lens you can consider: Minolta ACW-100 Olympus WCON-08B Olympus WCON-07 Raynox 6600(smth smth) and a few nikon, canon, and sony lenses... |

erm i'm not too sure, you can look around the garage sales, i think there are a few sellers there selling ultra-wide, some with f/2.8 will be more expensive though. but i think a normal aperture one will cost about 1.5k

i m heard that the conversion lens if long term usage, it will slow down / damage the motor that built in the lens... coz its quite heavy. At least it heavier than my Pana F3 juz the conversion lens wide angle itself.
No doubt it, raynox some how makes those macro filters powderful except few la... |
