I was just wondering, with the launching of iPad, there must be some interest generated for ebooks readers. They have been around for quite awhile overseas but not locally. Locals who want them have to purchase these devices themselves, usually from the US. If only this forum can create an awareness and interest for this device, maybe there will be some retailers willing to import them to be sold in the local market. Since SONY has the PRS series, why can't SONY Malaysia import these devices. I'm sure there is a market for them here. The Star carried an article on these devices and the responses by readers show that this is a viable market niche for SONY.

ebook cant defeat original book i think. i prefer to read real books coz no eye strain, then can read in free style... and if feel sleepy, can just throw away. no need to shut down...

The problem with this idea is that e-books aren't such a popular thing in Malaysia as of yet. The point being that the online entrepreneurship scene in Malaysia is still in its infancy, thus the prospect of e-books aren't so hot thus far. Give it a couple of years or so, it'll start to add up then.

In the meantime, we're better off leeching off the other e-book sites like ebooks.com and e-library.net.

On topic:
Or if you're looking for blog-worthy, 'how to make money online' e-books, I recommend those from John Chow, Jay Stockwell or even Jonathan Volk. There are many other well-known, prominent marketers out there, you just need to find them. smile.gif

In America apparently, its generating big bucks.. with the Amazon's Kindle and Barnes&Nobles following suit..
And thats the reason why the iPad was launched, to not only get into the micro-mobile computing but the booming e-book industry in the States.
Magazines, comics, publishers are all signing up into this bandwagon and I do not think this is some dot-com bubble hype.
Its for real and hopefully that enthusiasm can cross over to asia as well.

i'm using the Nintendo DS to read .epub books, but I still prefer real books. Flipping through multiple pages to get to that 1 chapter you really love is so hard on these e-readers.
