hai guys
yesterday i go to LYP ask for it too & the seller also said price is RM4999
i said it is RM3999 instead then he go back check again & said he wrong liao doh.gif

You sure is RM3999 for Core i5 520M not RM4999??
According to the Asus catalog for PC fair offer, the price is RM4999.
Then RM3999 is a very good price, i will buy immediately!!!

have been Dingdong around which lappy to replace my aged Lenovo Y400 for daily works.
Almost get the Dell XPS16 at RM3899, but at the end turned to Asus N82JV for its USB3.0 and other features like lower heat and better battery life.
Today will place the order. Dunno when can get it in hand!!!

The distributor just deliver the N82JV to me.
Looks good but a bit heavy.
They included only a USB Optical mouse but not wireless mouse. Already complained and ask for a new wireless mouse.

Now put on charging. later will start migrate my emails and files.

I wonder if anyone had used the n82 to run any 3d modelling software, Autocad, 3ds, Catia and so on.. can the optimus switch to use the GT335 for them?
*
Don't worry, I not buy this for gaming but more for business and software demo.
Will run NX CAD & CAE software. Might try to run it the CAE in SMP mode!! tongue.gif

There are so many Asus Utility preinstalled and run on startup.
Which one should we keep and which should be uninstalled or disable on startup?

i tried to install the two drivers i downloaded from nvidia (the verde 197.16 and optimus 189.79) but failed to install them.

For the verde driver setup, there was a pop up saying that a suitable driver could not be found while the optimus one triggered a pop up saying "Non 7-zip archive".

Anyone could shed some light?

Thanks

I also just downloaded it. later will try to install it and let u know.

Try get it from Evernew's outlets around Digital Mall. Yesterday checked with them the N82JV drop to RM3999.
RM4XXX is for N62Jv model.

Just installed the optimus 189.79 driver and latest Intel HD driver.
Now can see the white light ON when startup. Will try more later..

Added on May 24, 2010, 2:19 amI try to start the trial for the preinstalled MsOffice 2007.
But when I run the Activation Assitant, try to get the activation code online,
it show the error message:
"The Microsoft Office Activation Assistant was unable to request your trial activation key. Please check your Internet connection and try again. If the error continues, go to www.microsoft.com/office/pctrial2007 to request a trial activation key. "

When go the website it request me to register for new account and get the activation code and download. I just copy the code and paste on the activation, it said wrong code. So i suspect the code i got is only for the new installation which they ask me to download.

Anyone have the same? Any solutions? I would like to temporary use this 2months trial license. later i will try to get new genuine license.

Yes, the cooling system is good that dun feel hot on palm rest even on for 8hrs!

My reason to buy N82JV:
1. USB3.0
2. 2yrs Global warranty
3. Good cooling system. I can feel cold on the Alumminium body!!!!
4. Low failure rate (according to the report)

or else I will get the Dell Studio XPS16 for the similar price range, which have cool product design.

i didn't play any games. mainly for business use.
After updated the Intel HD & Nvidia Optimus driver, no issue yet.
later will try on 3D CAD and CAE software to check the performance.

Added on May 31, 2010, 5:06 pmi just found that if i left my wireless mouse's USB nanoreceiver on the USB3.0, it will hang at boot up. if i remove the nanoreceiver, then it can reboot nicely.
maybe it is conflict of hardware or driver.
Don't have permanent solution yet.
anyone face the same?

RM4999 is for N61. N82 starting price that time should be RM4399.
Now the MSRP is RM3999.

thx guys
wasn't aware of the combo port. the sales guy didn't mention either (quite a young chap, maybe new to this)

is it true that when using usbhub on a usb2.0 port, it is no longer 2.0?
i noticed this issue on the vaio with my usb2.0 pen drives - transfer of data becomes as slow as the old usb ports. I asked some guys at lowyat yesterday and they either dont know, or just nod their head "yea yea" - not convincing enough.

to make final decision - i'm going to lowyat later to type furiously on a42 and the n82 keyboards...
so far 75%for the a42
*
i believe because u use old USB1.1 hub. I'm using one for my Logitech wireless mouse, so if i plug in USB drive it tell me is not highspeed.
Later need to buy one USB2.0 to replace it.

For me, i bought this because of USB3.0 ready. so no need to change within couple of yrs when the USB3.0 drives are common.
For extra USB ports, just buy a USB hub lor!! tongue.gif

Btw, one thing i found out very cool is the laptop Alu cover is very "COOL" in the air-conditioned room!! like ice cool!!! thumbup.gif
