For now, you can view it via Settings manually or if you know the "command", you can use "Desktop Execution Command" widget to do it.
Slide your finger/stylus from OUTSIDE the viewing/display area towards or into to display area, a cursor will appear. (There's space where there is no display).

With whatever touch screen phones, it'll be harder to sms compared to normal phones with keypad, mainly because you cannot feel or know if you have press successully without looking at the screen. With phones with keypad, I can sms while walking and looking at the road, even at busy shopping malls, there's no need to look at the screen because you know if the key is successfully pressed and so on. So, I just need to glance at it once in a while or read it at the end, etc.

With touchscreen, it'll be a problem even on normal texting, you need to really see/look, else you'll do much more mistake, more so if it's qwerty on screen with is smaller buttons. And for sensitive touch screen, it'll be more problematic because you'll easily accidentally hit a few words, and worst, for those phones without arrow keys for your to move the cursor around.

If truly want to SMS, just get another cheap phone for texting mainly, lol

You need to install rootsh from Maemo Extras to enable "sudo gainroot" command. Alternatively you can install ssh and Putty into your phone and do the changes from a PC.

depends what bluetooth headset u are using if your headset supports A2DP it shouldnt be a problem. U pair with the bluetooth device and example u play video or music the audio will play thru the headset.

I tested with Nokia BH-503 and Jabra stone before great quality.
