yeah, they got too much money or just plain day dreaming, haha

anyway if its just overheating it's just a small issue, if u say gasket burned or eat black oil like eating french fries and drinks fuel like drinking coke so planning to change engine then it's a good excuse whistling.gif because standard sm4 engine with a bit over 300,000 km mileage is so old already, it still can run for another 100,000km or so before it needs a total overhaul, but better prepare for rainy days

there is alwiz a choice to do full overhaul on ur current engine... cost of it will not exceed the cost of an engine transplant...

overhaul is an option if u r short on cash, but if u want an upgrade and u've got the budget, why not just do a swap? if u do overhaul u r still using the old engine, what's the point?

i mean not as old as your standard one, at least if u put in a f20b or h22a engine it's considered an upgrade

that's why before buying it, must check and test it properly, i've done so many swaps and haven't encountered any kind of problems so far just because of the checking and testing, it's 90% fault proof

i'm not saying overhaul isn't good, i'm only saying it doesn't work 100% all the time also, your mechanic could screw up in the process but u and he won't know it until after u've run in the engine, the rate of success in an overhaul is also 90%

like i said, if u've got the budget, change the engine, if not, do the overhaul, in both cases u'll need a bit of luck and a good mechanic, so take your chances

Sorry noobie comment but I thot overhaul is more expensive then transplant? Oso overhaul is like new internals (piston, rings ect) in old engine block while transplant is completely used old engine + internals. For H22A - transplant is RM3.5k but overhaul is RM5k

Sometimes bad luck transplant wore engine doh.gif IMHO if overhaul price = transplant price then better choose overhaul.

On the side, how will a lay person like me check & test properly the 1/2 cut? Besides looking at odometer and engine markings?
