u guys should start a gain muscle and abs faq and sticky some of your testimonies. along with helpful videos like darkie posted 1 about spot reduction myth..

most of the ppl who have no idea where to start have the same goals.. they either want to

1) look fit but not look bulky and muscular when they are overweight
2) look fit but not look bulky and muscular when they are underweight
*
well, you can do it and the mod will sticky it.

QUOTE(mofonyx @ May 7 2010, 06:28 AM)
I am sad. Gym say cannot Farmers Walk around with dumbbells. It was improving my grip immensely that I was better at lifting everything (even those that didn't specifically require grip strength).

Health hazard he says, and I can respect that.

Besides deadlifting the dumbbells up and gripping it static, any other practical ways to improve grip at the gym?

I've tried dead-hangs on the pullup bar, hammer curls, and just plain gripping the bar at a lighter weight from a deadlift position.

Nothing seems to come close to the satisfaction of Farmers Walk. What's the next most effective method to powerup my grip without buying one of those iron grippers (that cons your money because each increment is a new purchase)

Thx yous

97% genetics, 3% the rest. But it doesn't mean you shouldn't train to be as well developed as you can naturally.
Really that bad? Neural strength loss la. Give it 2 weeks or so.
*
no la bro, we were doing super sets. we were already exhausted from the incline bench. We did super sets with 15kg, 7.5kg and 5kg. LOL. We felt like little girls when doing the 5kg db press

Guys, i was wondering whether running constant speed of 8 or increase the gradient to 15% (max) is better to burn fats?

Coz when i compare the calories burn, radient 15% is much higher calories burnt (with constant 15mins on treadmill).

Also, does anyone knows where to get gloves @ cheap rate? Wanted to buy one to prevent my hand's skin from peeling off...  thanks peps

i saw one uncle at the gym i go wearing the type of glove they use for cabut-ing grass. RM2 per pair ii think.

Hi sifus, I come in peace.

Anyway, I now have some cash in my pocket and think that it's about the right time to spend some money on some supplements but before parting with my money, I thought I'd seek some advice here.

I'm thinking of getting ON Whey but my friends have been recommending me to get Nitro-Tech Hardcore instead. They said if I were insistent to stick with ON Whey, I could have them side by side but I'm thinking that that would be overkill. Advice?

Also, was thinking of getting Creatine for the first time but am wondering whether capsules or shakes would be better?

Any other supplements I should be on the look for? Was thinking of getting Whey + 1 more.

Thanks in advance for your advice.
*
i think getting tablet better, easier to swallow. I'm using powder myself, damn troublesome and taste like !!@#.

U know there's one time i went to GNC and ask for creatine alone, they showed me Nitrotech hardcore. I know it has creatine in it. But pointing that its creatine , isnt that's just stupid

Er, don't buy supplements you don't need and you'll have plenty of money to buy decent food.

Anyway, if you don't buy steak every day like I do, some suggestions for cheap, protein-rich food:
- eggs (I prefer to make one giant omelet instead of boiling them all at once)
- lentils + rice
- black beans + rice (actually, let's just say "any legume + any starch = complete protein")
- edamame
- tempeh
*
how do u calculate how much protein from legumes? and how do u cook them?

Yep...the morning pack..i dun really feel anything. But the pack before the workout....the effect during cardio is amazing. I never sweat so much before in the gym. I look like i just step out from the shower...hehe.

Glad to hear you got the result. I'm just on my fourth day...so far, don't feel anything different. Trying my best to control the diet and will be doing a half hour cardio for 4 days/week. And yes...drink plenty of water....you will do once you hit the cardio machine cause you will be sweating like mad.
*
like what ken said, do cardio progressively. Start with 10 minutes, the next day do 11. Increase by the day.

Hey guys, i've juz started out my mass training. I'm most part ecto and small part meso and  I've been doing this for 2 weeks, need you all to give some comments.

- shoulders: barbell raise (3x8-10), lateral raise (3x10), front raise (3x10)

day 2
-Biceps: preacher curls(3x8-10), barbell curls(3x8), concentration (3x8-10)
-Triceps: S.crushers (3x8-10), dumbell extsion (3x8-10), cable pushdwn

day 3
- traps: shrugs( 6x10), upward row (3x8)
-Abs: using various machines (9x8-10)
- Cardio: HIIT cycling of 15min.( wanna puke after this)

so u guys think i should change to make improvements? I've read that squats and deadlifts are crucial for muscle gaining, should i slot them in my training?
*

QUOTE(faizpsp89 @ Sep 4 2010, 01:35 AM)
because this type of suicidal dieting doesnt work.

Reasons:
#1 : You dont eat frequently enough and metabolism wasn't as high compared to one who eat 5-6 times per day. THus ur fat loss is slow

#2 : Eating once per day (for ramadhan) and twice per day ( on normal days) simply means that your body turns to burn ur muscle mass instead ur fat.

#3 : Plain roti bakar is High-GI, not good for fat loss.

My advice : Eat the right food, at the right timing. DO the right exercises. Stop suicidal dieting before its too late.
