Ok, out of curiosity I e-mailed Sony about why PSN home not available to Malaysia. Their reply:

Makes me wonder tho. What is it that is so offensive in PS Home that makes them think MCMC will go after them if they launch it?

Edit: Just sent second e-mail asking them for details. Very interested in seeing what's so offensive.

Curious about the fun of PSN Home though, what's so great bout it? I just gotten my PS3 and using it in SG, the PSN Home for S'pore is entirely empty - wondering what's the point of having it.

It's banned probably because Streamyx is so slow here and it takes ages to download any new item in Home.

My US friend decided to not buy a PS3 for now because of the blah reviews FFXIII is getting :/ He's a FF/KH fan and was originally also going to get a PS3 for FFXIII. I want to create an account and use his address. He gave me permission to use it first, but I feel it's not polite to use it until he gets his PS3.

And they still allow all the other similar-if-not-identical virtual stuff (Second Life, Habbo Hotel, etc)?

Makes sense. Sony probably need MMORPG operator license to operate Home in Malaysia if they're planning to segregate by country instead make whole of Asia use HK server.

u dont need real address to create US PSN ID.. just the postcode need to be the actual..other stuff just put something else like ABC..

it's a mistake to make HOME a country-based services. it should be made as region-based. at least it will not be deserted like HOME SG. but then again, it's Sony call

ONTOPIC - Even if HOME came to Malaysia, it'd be deserted. I sure as hell won't bother, as my US HOME avatar has lotsa outfits (Stormtrooper FTW!) and it'd probably take even longer for us to get all the stuff on HOME anyway

all our problems is because of that!

launching home in malaysia means investing money.
Investing in malaysia is kind of suicide nowadays.
For me i would rather take those money to upgrade the server in other country rather then feeding the goverment in malaysia.
Their hunger for money nv satisfy but in the end only yield lower profit then gaining more.
The truth about home is not coming isn't because it's ban but the money they gonna pay to come in cost heavily.
Worst of all not only it's gonna cost heavily but funniest thing of all is that most of the shares is gonna be dominated by malaysia goverment.
Most of the dude running the servers including the technician also run by the same group.
The services is gonna be bad and this gonna bring bad reputation.
If u were sony, would u wana waste money and time in here or u would rather take the money and invest in other country with much freedom or probably improve the foundation of psn home.
With this kind of economy i would rather improve the foundation rather then expanding my company into some territory that had the tendency to lock more then half of my investment into their pocket.

PSN Home for Malaysia is banned? Huh..didn't notice that. Then again, it must have been months since I logged in to one. No big deal.

See first page. I e-mailed them asking why and they reply that they will not enable Home for Malaysia accounts apparently because of local law prohibiting them. They still haven't replied to my e-mail when I press them for details tho.

Just log on to US or other countries PSN then you can happily use Home.

i already have a home. why the hell would i want psn home?

I just went to Sony Style in Empire Shopping Gallery yesterday and a salesman say that Malaysia's system is currently being upgraded, and they are working to bring in Home in the future, although they don't know when it will happen. A bit more positive sounding but still not good enough for me.

Like I said, I want to use US home, but my friend in the US has decided not to buy a PS3 oredi because FFXIII got slammed by review sites due to linear story. He's only interested in the main FF/KH range, and nothing else, not even FF/KH spinoffs. Now I can only hope that KH3 gets glaring reviews when it comes out.

Yeah, he already give me blessing to use his address first, but I just feel that it's not nice to use until he gets his PSN account. And I dare not use a random address because Sony may send freebies like magazine or pamphlets. And if the thing get returned to Sony with a "address doesn't exist" or "person doesn't live here", it could tip Sony off.
