I don't think Emule is dead. It has keep running for all these years, when most of its friends have been under attack and life ended. But unfortunately, my experience with Emule had always been this: It is SLOW. There could be very few user sharing the file you want and hence you may need to wait till they are online then they will send you a little bit by little bit, that is if u on at the right time coinciding with them, which most of the time isn't. So the only practical way to get things off Emule is to have a machine that on 24 hours a day, probably using some oldish PCs that not suitable for much heavy use anymore, is a good way.
