I guess you don't need a phone urgently if you can ask about the iPhone5. If you can wait, wait for it. If it's released end of this year, we should be getting it next year

There are some analysts who say Android apps will overtake iOS apps (in fact, in July). But Android apps quality is relatively lower than iOS version (eg. Facebook, eBay), and some apps and games are released on iOS first before ported over to Android if there's demand. Of course, there are some Android apps that will never be available on iOS because of the closed nature of the system (widgets, automation, etc).

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.s...e=search_resultWell...I don't need a phone urgently but I have travel plans in October and having a smartphone (leeching on free wifi) is definitely a good travel companion.
I read an article about a year ago regarding an iphone app that allows you to take pictures of a sign/text in foreign language and convert it to english. I wish there's something like that for Android.
Hence now I'm debating whether to just give in and get an Android by October or forego travelling with a smartphone and get the iPhone next year.

Android: more free app than iOS or the ratio of free to paid is higher in Android Market.
Apps quality maybe a bit lower than iOS, but I don't care as iOS apps are mostly lame to fix up the broken OS.
For me real iOS apps, are Cydia apps........
Hehe..good to know, I love free goods!
