QUOTE(ianho @ Sep 22 2010, 02:59 PM) No more annoyance d lor. New firmware out next month to allow custom button setting so can access ISO instantly. Fuji has always been cool. They make the glass for Hasselblad man. How is that not cool? But no "quick menu" thing?Fujinon is cool... Finepix wasn't cool |

QUOTE(Wuahaha @ Sep 27 2010, 10:17 AM) Yeah... like improving GF1's high ISO performance etc but NOOOOO... they go waste their time with 3D lens (this is a serious WTF) and coming out with mini-dslr's.No offence to the G and GH owners here but despite the minute size difference, I don't think it makes sense for them to compete head-on with Canon and Nikon. |

QUOTE(jacklsw86 @ Sep 27 2010, 03:53 PM) Why lar Panny so degil... they cannot avoid getting gangr@ped by the canon/nikon/sony combo. Why not just concentrate on something that have sell point... like the GF form factor. Last 2 weeks I've visited a few touristy cities in Europe.. I've seen a variety of cameras.... even some Pentax ... I've seen NEX's, PEN's and the GF's but never see their mini-me-wannabe-dslr's also. So why bother? I seriously don't understand the appeal of a bonzai-dslr... for a bit more weight and size.. might as well just get a consumer canikony model. Bigger sensor... a lot of lens.... more pro look (since a dslr-like device already automatically not stealthy) At least Samsung snapped out of it early and don't degil. ps: I'm just spewing crap.. please don't get offended and do enlighten me on the appeal of bonzai-dslr's. Might have missed something. |

QUOTE(hellfire8888 @ Sep 28 2010, 12:02 AM) the new gh2 is quite tempting for a bonzai slr...40fps 18MP AF faster than canon 5d mk2 ...i am quite impress..just waiting for pana to miniaturize it to the size of gf1 40fps only on reduced size files leh.My dream "GF2" is for: - Keep the GH2 internal... at least nice and tidy ISO1600 ler. - Chop off the GH2 EVF module... or maybe as an option to replace that GF1 EVF - Chop off the grip. - Simplify the tilty screen like the NEX so we can all shoot Hasselblad style. - Panasonic should save cost and not to try impressing their customer that they know how to spell... "Lumix, GF1, "L" logo, HD, AVCHD Lite ( <-- this one is really WTF.. why would anybody say it's LITE.. it's like wearing a t-shirt saying that "I got a small banana". If add the EVF... then ANOTHER LUMIX logo... and all this is only on the front of the camera. This is important. - Also that MEGA OIS in red from the lens. What's wrong with just OIS or OIS 2? Why have to go from OIS to Super OIS to MEGA OIS? What's next? Super Duper MEGA ULTRA OIS? - Keep the design clean without chrome-y bling bling stuff. Easier for them to re-badge and sell to Leica also that way. --end rant This post has been edited by sniper on the roof: Sep 28 2010, 02:01 AM |

More interested in this line --> 1) Mr.Kitao says they can design compact MicroFourThirds smaller than the Sony NEX cameras!
And despite my beef with Sony, its actually impressive that a 200lbs gorilla like Sony hears the feedback and are making effort to improve their NEX interface via firmware rather than fookin everyone up and release new product. Right now ... a NEX + CV 35mm looks mighty tempting. |

We're talking about how Panasonic should get off their butt and come out with a GF1 replacement soonest possible before they get completely tarpau'ed kau kau instead of bonzai-dslr's.hopefully pana change the spec again, 1080P 60 fps |

QUOTE(Matrix @ Oct 1 2010, 10:24 AM) Guys, i need some advice. I'm noob with DLSR and professional cameras. I am eyeing the Panasonic GF1, most package either comes with 14-45mm or 20mm. Depend on what you what sort of picture you want to take.. if unsure... 14-45mm gives you a reasonably large zoom range and image stabilization. What's the difference? Which one is better? Is the pancake slim lens, the 20mm lens?? I'm more interested in the pancake one. Coz more compact. Pls advise. TQ. The 20mm pancake is much faster for low light but its a prime lens (no zoom) and no image stabilization. It's the best choice for folks who knows exactly what they want. |

QUOTE(hellfire8888 @ Oct 14 2010, 05:53 PM) I don't think many people buy GH2's lor? Panasonic make all those bonzai-dslr to syiok sendiri only. By far, GF1 is still Panny's best selling M43... though its getting raped as of late. Amazon Top 100 ranking: http://www.dslrphoto.com/dslr/space.php?do=ranking |

Some tok kok here... *look into crystal ball*
Panasonic is first and foremost consumer electronic company.. with a side business of making cameras so I think they're gonna just go for the marketing hoohah and make the GF2 a tiny camera to beat the NEX in size. Since they're stuck with m4/3 sensor... they have the size advantage. What remains to be seen is whether they'll go as far as removing the pop-up flash. |

QUOTE(mint87 @ Oct 16 2010, 01:58 PM) hi m43 users.. It's not weird really... I'm using both a Canon 550D and S90 though the latter is used less and less these days due to the lack of image quality. Don't get me wrong... the S90 (and I suppose the S95/LX5) are great compacts but no matter what, they're still compacts.im sorry to drop by and this might be a bit weird.. i choosing a small camera at the moment.. cuz that im not going to bring my dSLR everywhere i go right? so im still choosing between the m43 system or the high-end compacts (like s95 from canon and the Lumix lx5 or sumthing like these 2) so is there any of u guys got experience on using both?im really twisted here.. dont know which one to choose.. thx in advance for those who's willing to help I don't own a m43 system but have been lusting for one for a long time and have extensive played with E-PL1 and GF1. They are of course better than the S90 but not significantly enough to justify the size diff imo. E-PL1 advantage is it has slightly better noise control over the GF1 and in body stabilisation but it feels like a toy... and imho, the control sucks... no dials at all. Even the NEX has a scroll thingy GF1 on the other hand feels much better, comes with the classic 20mm f1.7 (and in the grey market goods in taiwan is only priced at ~RM1.7K!!!) but the iso800 on it look worse than ISO3200 on my 550D So for me, I opted to wait for: - Upcoming GF2 to see if they can improve the noise part. - Zeiss prime for Sony NEX.. should cost a bomb though - Fuji X100. |

QUOTE(mint87 @ Oct 16 2010, 02:47 PM) firstly, thank u for ur time to reply m43 is definately > high end compactsand secondly,u think i should get the m43 instead of the high-end compacts ya? this will be my 2nd camera since i cannot carry my dSLR everytime n everywhere i go..its abit bulky.. so im planning for a 2nd camera to bring along just everywhere i go.. that's the whole idea of this so from ur opinion, m43>high-end compacts? (yeah about the image quality,im not expecting a quality that i could compare it to my dSLR..) Question is how much more better considering that you have to still sacrifice size. You can keep the S90/S95 inside jeans pocket but m43's still require you to bring a bag. |
